We get hoodwinked by the press all the time. Many assume because they pay high taxes to the Feds, they also pay high taxes to the states. Well this is partly true. Though there is just one Fed, there are 50 states. So take my state for instance, Idaho. We are taxed by the state very little. Yet this state is essentially free of violence, free of crime, and so darned good to live in it is amazing the public is not rushing here to get a good dose of freedom.

Check your state out to get the idea.

For every dollar Idaho residents pay in federal taxes, they receive approximately $1.69 in federal funding.
Happy freeloaders.

There is little difference from the states averages.

In FY 2022, 27.5% of Idaho government revenues came from federal transfers. This was 0.9 percentage points higher than the average across all states. Federal transfers finance a broad range of programs and services, including education, nutritional assistance programs, infrastructure, and Medicaid.

What is your basis for that claim?

If this were 0.9 percentage points higher than the average across all states, then the average state receives $1.67 for every dollar it pays to the Feds.

And you think that mitigates being a freeloading state? You're comparing Idaho to other states' tax rates and calling it freedom, but that freedom is paid by others.
Get off your high horse.

Shows how well our state is run. We don't force the feds to do this for us.

Idaho is so well run we manage to get more from the feds than we pay to the Feds.

We are a very well run state. The Feds decide how much to send to us.

You guys wear blinders. The tax burden for California and NY is way lower than Florida and Texas. You are looking at one tax only. There a lots of taxes.

The lege pass silly laws.

I notice the image suggests that UT and NV are similar in taxation.

I don't think so.
