Pretty much it. In the 1970s, I regularly saw the greatest bands in the world UP CLOSE, for between $4.50 to $6.50 a ticket, the music was loud and the air thick with pot smoke.

Then they invented Ticketmaster. Now you pay Ticketmaster 150% markup on every ticket. Adjusted for inflation, I should still be able to see a top rock band up close for about $35.00.

20 years ago, a friend was paying $200 to get a rather crappy seat at a Rush concert. The music was muted, and there wasn't a joint within sight.
 
Recent American music sucks anyway. I have to look overseas for any decent metal these days

metal is alive and well in the EU, been following stratovarius,, nightwish, iron savior, edguy, hammerfall to name a few
