He's completely shameless, not self aware enough for that to even be on his horizon. He didn't want his base to know, because it would undermine the whole "it's just a cold" narrative.

He didn’t need to make a big public spectacle about it.

You would think Trump would take a victory lap after his operation Warp Speed. You saw him at the wall he was building. Trump went to the Pennsylvania coal mines.

Trump even did a video when he got out of Walter Reed hospital following his covid-19 hospitalization.

That's the position Trump took when he got out of Walter Reed. Saying it was nothing. It wasn't until later we found out Trump was on oxygen and they were preparing to put him on a ventilator.
