Trump’s Tomato Tarrif

Who cares what you grew. US commercial tomatoes are absolute shit.

A tomato will grow anywhere in anything. You could drop a tomato seed in a crack in stone and it would grow. I've had tomato plants grown from seeds that birds dropped, in landscaped places designed not to grow stuff.

Give it a little nitrogen and you'll have a bushel of tomatoes. A small child could grow tomatoes. All that is left is the person to pick them and we all know who is ripe for that job.

Are you telling me that US growers cannot grow a weed that grows by itself that any child could do? But Mexicans CAN, right?

Tell me Stink, do you take drugs which make you stupid or what?

I can’t take a publication seriously who starts with farmers facing new tariffs, farmers in the US aren’t facing any new tariffs, the ones they are dealing with have always been there from other countries. The new ones are leveling the playing field.

Why in the world should we import foreign tomatoes that are fertilized with human shit and sprayed with unrestricted poison pesticides when we can grow the plants in our backyards? We are so used to imported tomatoes that are so pithy that they can be bounced to market that we wouldn't know a real juicy tomato if we fell on one.

Nothing better than garden tomatoes. I've watched our youngest pick one and take a bite still in the garden

Looks to be working as planned.

I think the reason the left struggles so hard not understanding how this is happening is they’ve never been good at economics to begin with. If they were they wouldn’t be socialists.

Two days, that’s how long it takes Trump to turn things around for our own farmers.
And up go tomato prices at the grocery stores.

Especially when it turns out there's no one left to harvest them.

I grew up with it. I don't like the weeding but I do enjoy the bounty

Tomatoes were pretty easy. I used raised beds which were mostly covered with plastic anyway. I always kept the weeds down by just dumping more horse compost around their base with a little wood ash and bone meal thrown in. Out of this world beefsteaks and other indeterminate varieties.
