Trump's Tariffs Plan

LOL... Not sure what is more hilarious. That you think that would work or that you really think that tariffs would create this change.

For example. If you would open your eyes.... The tarriffs were in place for years under both Trump and Biden (the ones he kept in place). So what has happened to the American alternatives to the Chinese imports? Clearly the Chinese products are a lot more expensive now, right? Nope. American manufacturers have raised their prices to take advantage.
Did not charge the same percentage of tariffs that China did.
Did not charge Chinese tariffs on products from Chinese owned businesses in other countries.
Try that next time.
Meanwhile back in reality, the other day your blob said he’d put 200% tariffs on John Deere if they moved their manufacturing.

Just out of nowhere.

Look...here is a news story confirming it!!!!

Even the right leaning WSJ Editorial page said he was absolutely crazy for doing so:

I’m sure you’ll rush to defend your blob who essentially did the EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU JUST SAID--"You're not doing it to please your constituency. Nor would we do it recklessly. Reciprocal tariff simply means we match their tariffs. No protectionism allowed, by anyone."

C’mon lets hear it.
He says some off the wall stupid shit, so does Harris.
Harris said she would not have done one thing different in the past 4 years. But she is running on a change platform. Why didn't she and Biden do that change during the past 4 years?
The only way to do that would be to, gasp, get corporate America to accept a lower profit margin. Tariffs won’t do it. Of course, neither would anything else as long as they serve the stockholders instead of the greater good. Perhaps we should teach ethics in business schools and how the local factory fits into national defense, national prosperity, and all that stuff. Oh wait...that would require a federal approach to education. Can’t have that now, can we?
The more you try that, the faster they move out of Dodge.
These businesses are moving into countries where it is more profitable.
Your comment is a dream and self-serving.

LOL... So now not only are we going to charge tariffs on goods that come from China, also from items an importer imported from China to sell here?
He says some off the wall stupid shit,
And you excuse 100% of it...even when it directly contradicts your brain farts.

Most of the tariffs he put into place were not retaliatory to anything that came before him. He gets political traction from looking like he's sticking it to someone. Idiots like you love that sort of thing. And when he had to bail out the already subsidized farmers not once, but twice, you...again excused it.

It is a dream but I wouldn't call it self serving. We outsource a great deal of the data processing at our hospital. Why? Its cheaper.

When costs are your only concern (and our system rewards that currently) you cut costs whenever you can. How about we start rewarding companies that build here, stay here and integrate with other like-minded companies?

Of course when AOC wanted Amazon to be a better corporate citizen, what was the reaction from the Right? To chastise her and call her every name in the book. This is what you guys do. You don't think.

A few years back, here was an idea I came up with. You won't read it but some others might.

What to do? Here is an idea just off the top of my head.

Set up accounts like banks have for social security. You log on using your number. It has the day you become eligible, the amount you can expect to get, etc...
On this website, you have another account. Lets call it the MIA--pronounced Mee-Ah-- account...Made in America. Each month during periods specified by Congress, monies are allocated to those accounts. Lets call it $62.50 a month. About $750 a year or so. Make it whatever you want.

During which, at the same time, the Dept of Agriculture along with the Dept of Commerce sets up a program--a partnership whereby both online and in brick and mortar stores feature sections of their website or sections of their store for the MIA goods only. Farmer surpluses, clothing, radios, after-market auto parts, etc... American made goods that are turly Ameican made; not 25% American made, not goods made in Mexico but packaged here, etc.. AMERICAN MADE GOODS. If you want to put a percentage on it, fine...make it 90+ percent though. American firms hiring Americans to produce goods that are made in America...using American made raw materials.

It sets up a sub-economy. The program would be huge but hey, it's a time for bold measures in my mind. Each American getting $750.00 a year (again adjust it any way you want). Its what some people pay in taxes an entire year. LOL. Its a $225 Billion dollar industry ($750 X 300M Americans) that the government could create in a very short amount of time. On the retail end, there would probably not be a large hiring increase. On the manufacturing end, you'd see a pretty good development. I'm sure Hitachi and Toshiba and Mawae or whatever it is called would set up a dummy corp to give them an american presence and take part. Whatever. As long as they hire Americans to make the goods, that's great. As long as they are paying utilities to American providers like ConEd, PG&E, Spectrum, etc.. Thats great. As long as they are using American grown okra, wheat, soybeans, milk, cheese, cotton, hemp, dyes, etc... Thats great. As long as they are using minerals taken out of the mines in Kentucky, Tennessee, or Wyoming. Thats great. As long as they are using Texas beef, Arkansas chickens, or Washington State apples...that's great. That is the difference between the economic activity created by buying a set of plastic ware something in our breakroom that was made in Malaysia.

It will create some jobs in manufacturing although it won't be heavy industry. It will create some jobs on the distribution end. I envision warehouses full of these commodities.

What it will also do, lets be honest, is set up another underground economy where people will find a way to sell what they buy--or sell the credits outright. Perhaps some of the smarter people here--there are hundreds--can find a way to institutionalize that as well. Make it perfectly OK for someone like me who is doing well financially to donate--or trade--my $62.50 to the local food pantry or sell/donate it to Jane Doe who perhaps isn't doing so well. People will be doing this for crack cocaine too of course. But the net effect is that whoever gets the credit either uses them or not...if they use them, it creates economic activity. If they do not...well...there will be a great many who do not.

On the downside, the products available through the program won't be as affordable as the cheap crap made overseas. So you'll still have people going to Wal*Mart and buying the foreign made goods. Nothing is going to stop that in a capitalist society. But what you will have is a segment of the economy that is just set up for American commerce.

I don't, you ignore 100% of it coming from the other side, like Hillary removing classified documents via electronic form and worse than Trump, was an easier mode of our enemies hacking into her system and stealing copies. And then destroying all evidence so we couldn't look and see if she had been hacked.

It is not their only concern, repeat business also is a factor.
So you would raise taxes or print more money to give to businesses in one form or another? If we did that for everything you Democrats want our taxes would be up over 100%

People don't start business's to continue being a wage slave, they do it to get rich.
Oh, and those stockholders, are mostly 401k's and Mutual Funds everyone is depending on having when they retire.

Not even remotely true. I would reward companies that actually did put America first instead of businessmen like your blob who had his cheap clothing made in China. Oh yeah...you excused that too.

Strange. When Obama was president--those 8 years of supposed business killing regulations--the stock market climbed 149%. Today we had another record close under the Harris administration in the DJIA. Look it up.

So...now that you're all for corporate greed all of the sudden..please tell us why you would ever want to spend a moment living under the blob's rule again.

Look at GLD for the past year, and 5 year.

Trump is simply repeating the progressive dem claims of the pre reagan years. So, you pay 50-100% for a new washer made in America (that may suck). But the guys who made the washers have more money to buy shit.

American dispossed Britain's mftring during the late 19th and early 20th century. That's what made the 20th century known as the "American Century." That's where the prosperity came from.

Trump was unable to, and still can't, really redeux those halcyon years, because of oil. IF we tell producers that oil they get from US waters has to stay here, producers will drill elsewhere. That's actually why we REPEALED that law. And it's cheaper to refine oil drilled her in American refineries instead of shipping oil from Nigeria or somewhere to here.

But if anything can reduce deficits and keep inflation in check .... I'd be for it. But, Trump will spend every dime and increase deficits. Or he did last time.

Imports of certain foods he won't touch. It's mainly all the garbage from China he's looking to cut out.

This is a business tactic. He's a business man. He's claimed thousands of times, he wants companys to STOP going outside the USA to open production facilities, he wants them to stay HERE in the USA. USA made goods and services, made by USA citizens.

This is one of the tactics you use in order to facilitate bringing back jobs and companies to the USA.

And as he can RAISE tarriffs, he can also LOWER them, or cut them out all together when these companies come BACK to the USA for production.

The blob tried that when he was in earlier.

Massive failure on every front.
Many of Trump's tariffs continued with Biden and Biden also increased Tariffs on a few of them.

Also, before the federal income tax, Tariffs were the way.

Dumbass, Biden loves him some tariffs...

WashingtonCNN —
The Biden administration said Friday that it has finalized tariff hikes on certain Chinese-made products that the president first announced in May.

The tariff rate will go up to 100% on electric vehicles, to 50% on solar cells and to 25% on electrical vehicle batteries, critical minerals, steel, aluminum, face masks and ship-to-shore cranes beginning September 27, according to the US Trade Representative’s Office.

Tariff hikes on other products, including semiconductor chips, are set to take effect over the next two years.

I don't understand the divide that Tariffs are generating. Trump could say he's raising the federal income tax 25%, and the left would hate that, even though, that's what they want.
Tariffs are will be and have always been leveraged as bargaining chips too. Let this administration get in and do it's thing and let it play out.

Yes, Tariffs can have some negative impacts to the economy, but what we saw with Trump's first term was a solid and strong Economy. Can some of you sit back, get off the ledge and let this play out.

He tried it in his first term. Wholesale disaster.

You obviously underestimate the buying power of the US consumer. We are the golden goose.

Not as golden as we used to be. There is a reason our largest corporations are multi-national; so they can sell to emerging markets.

At any rate, importers won’t be importing as much since its going to cost them more.

He tried it in his first term. Wholesale disaster.
Biden has kept many of Trump's tariffs and increased the tariff on some of them as well. You do know Tariffs existed before the Federal Income tax, right?

Trump wants to do reciprocal Tariffs, which I am for. It's a simple idea, you Tariff our stuff, we will Tariff your stuff the same amount. If you have unfair trade advantages with us, like using slave or prison labor, then we Tariff your stuff enough to remove that advantage. The Democrats would be for these Tariffs, if they were pro-America. But they're Globalists. That is the only reason I can think of for doing so.

Anyhow, the Chinese think they have a way around this. But, with proper investigation and policing, we can counter by raising Tariffs to any country for those goods created by Chinese owned Businesses.
"We're Not Immune". Walmart Warns of Price Hikes Ahead of Trump If Through On Plan.

"We're No mmune,:. Walmart Warns of Price Hikes Ahead If Trump Follows Through With Plan.

Walmart — the world's largest retailer — issued a warning to customers that they may pay more for the same products if President-elect Donald Trump makes good on his promise to impose new tariffs on imports.

Walmart's finance chief, John David Rainey, acknowledged that new tariffs would likely be passed on to the people buying goods imported from overseas, Fortune reported Friday. Currently, anywhere from 70% to 80% of goods sold at Walmart are made in China, and could be affected by potential new tariffs. In September, PBS reported that Trump proposed tariffs as high as 60% on imports from China, and 20% tariffs on products made elsewhere.

"Tariffs are going to be inflationary, there’s no disputing that," Rainey said earlier this week.

This is basic High School Economics. The higher prices that distributors will pay will be passed on the consumer in form of higher prices.

I know many of 47 followers shop at Walmart, which means YOU voted price increases. Me, I never shop there. Also all you grab a burger at Chick Fill-A because of their religious views will paying those burgers as well. You voted against your own dam self interests. Enjoy the higher prices.

We should not tariff our friends and allies as long as they play fair with us

China does not observe US worker safety and pollution standards

Which is why libs love china so much
