The idea of absolute freedom is speech is a fallacy. Lies cannot and should not be tolerated, especially when such lies lead to financial fraud, or, in the case of covid, death. The people who promoted quack cures for covid - like ivermectin, were selling these quack cures.
VA hospitals were ordered by Donald Trump, to use hydroxychloroquine to treat covid, after he saw some quack on FOX News promoting it. The hospitals stopped using the drug when vets given HCC started dying at higher rates than those who were not treated with the drug. Subsequent studies showed that HCC INCREASED the death rate by 16%.
"In April 2020, the FDA warned healthcare professionals against using hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine to treat COVID-19 unless people were in the hospital or a clinical trial. Data collected by the FDA found heart problems at a higher rate among people taking these medicines compared with those who didn't take them."

Trump refused to listen to Dr. Faucci because Trump knows ALL. Canada followed the undiluted advice from the CDC, and instituted ACTUAL lockdowns and vaccine mandates. Our rate of disease and death was 1/3 that of the USA. It would have been a LOT lower than that if Captain Covid - aka President Trump, hadn't adopted a "herd immunity" stance and let the virus run free.
