Trump’s pick to head DEA withdraws after GOP criticism of his covid policies

Some conservatives had opposed Trump’s choice of Chronister, citing the sheriff’s enforcement of public health orders during the covid pandemic. The right-wing opposition crystallized around Chronister’s arrest of a pastor who was charged with ignoring state and local public health orders by holding large church services in March 2020 — the same month the World Health Organization declared covid-19 a pandemic and Trump declared a national emergency.

He wasn't Crazy enough to join the MAGA gang. Imagine the nerve of Chronister trying to prevent super spreader events like the one Kristi Noem approved of in Sturgis!

Gaetz is out, Chronister is out, the odds don't look good for Hegseth. Attention will soon shift to the other unqualified miscreants Gabbard, RFK, and Patel. The latter being the worst remaining threat to the constitutional order trump hates so much.

There is no evidence Sturgis was a super spreader event. This was a Branch Covidian talking point with nothing to back it up.

Chronister was a terrible pick and I'm glad the pressure got to him. Nobody who used COVID as an excuse to abuse their power to oppress the civil rights of innocent people belong at any level of government.

A shitty pick withdraws because he's self-aware enough to realize he's a shitty pick.

He has at least one thing up on your everyday garden variety shitlib.

Meanwhile, the OP....

Pete says he isn't backing down. Not that it's up to him. I can hear the phones ringing of the 6 (at least) Repub senators who have said they'd be "uncomfortable" confirming a guy who just isn't up for the job. The pressure will be immense.

Do you mean "statistics tell a different story" ... that's a Labor Economics Journal, not scientific ... we can tell because the authors didn't perform any error analysis, of which there are plenty ... cell phone usage from strangers? ... wow ... anything to promote the religion I guess ...
I post this with the understanding many trumples are science/fact deniers.

During August 7–16, 2020, a motorcycle rally was held in western South Dakota that attracted approximately 460,000 persons from across the United States to numerous indoor and outdoor events over a 10-day period. During August–September 2020, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) investigated a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak associated with the rally in Minnesota residents. Fifty-one primary event-associated cases were identified, and 35 secondary or tertiary cases occurred among household, social, and workplace contacts, for a total of 86 cases; four patients were hospitalized, and one died. Approximately one third (34%) of 87 counties in Minnesota had at least one primary, secondary, or tertiary case associated with this rally. Genomic sequencing supported the associations with the motorcycle rally. These findings support current recommendations for mask use, physical distancing, reducing the number of attendees at gatherings, isolation for patients with COVID-19, and quarantine for close contacts to slow the spread of SARS-CoV-2 (1). Furthermore, although these findings did not capture the impact of the motorcycle rally on residents of other states, they demonstrate the rationale for consistent mitigation measures across states.

Here's the thing, you voted for Joey Xiden, and then Kameltoe Harris....you really aren't in a good position to question anyone else's judgment.

ND was one of the safest places to be during the Covid pandemic....frankly, just living in Trump's America, even before the Trump vaccine's, America was a safer place to be......one Harris and Xiden took office, they gave us record covid deaths.

Nor is he in any position to determine who Trump's cabinet member will or will not be.

This shit is like 2016 all over again, with the same players bleating the same things. I expect we'll be hearing the same, right up until the 2028 election.

Wait ... the claim was made in your Post #3 that:

"While these numbers represent a ballpark estimate based on our estimated treatment
effects in Table 4, they underscore the extreme difficulty of using contact tracing alone to
estimate the effect of massive, non-socially distanced gatherings on COVID-19 spread in the
United States. The U.S. does not have universal contact tracing nor is universal testing required
to identify asymptomatic cases. Consequently, as of September 10, contact tracing had identified
only 328 cases (from within South Dakota and 20 additional states) that could be linked to the
Sturgis Rally, a number that is difficult to reconcile with an in-person gathering of a half-million
strangers without serious mitigation efforts (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2020)."

So .. is it 328 cases or is it 86 cases? ... please pick which set of bullshit lies you wish to stand on ... and how are you accounting for healthy folks who fought off the disease with only minimal symptoms ... and how does this study compare to others just like it? ...

... and again ... no error analysis? ... that means it's riddled with errors ... profoundly unscientific ...

They are booting him because he tried to save lives?

These people are insane.

Don't sweat the small stuff. The only thing that will matter is how Trump somehow ends the war with Russia.

Most presidents don't get 100% of their picks through.

"Super spreader event." Man, this yarn even has its own lingo. "Super spreader event." Lol, LMAO. You mean...a social gathering?
Think of it terms of something like this..........https://www.npr.org/sections/latest-updates-trump-covid-19-results/2020/10/03/919851907/at-least-7-people-test-positive-for-coronavirus-after-rose-garden-event-for-barr
..............but with 460K unprotected attendees.

There is no evidence Sturgis was a super spreader event.
Blatantly untrue.
