Trump’s DC rhetoric echoes history of racist narratives about urban crime
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has taken control of D.C.’s law enforcement and ordered National Guard troops to deploy onto the streets of the nation’s capital, arguing the extraordinary moves are necessary to curb an urgent public safety crisis.Even as district officials questioned the claims underlying his emergency declaration, the Republican president promised a “historic action to rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse.” His rhetoric echoed that used by conservatives going back decades who have denounced cities, especially those with majority non-white populations or led by progressives, as lawless or crime-ridden and in need of outside intervention.
Trump's false narrative about fighting crime is simply and excuse to go after Black Mayors and specifically in Democratic Blue States.
For example, Houston's crime rate has increased by 20% but it is a Red State and the Mayor is white (John Whitmore). Chicago's crime rate has decreased by over 30% but it is a Blue State and its Mayor is Black (Brandon Johnson).
This Trump narrative is not only racist but political. He is using the word "crime" (something that all people relate to and want it to stop) to go after Blue States. He is using lies because he knows that people in general (especially Trump cult members) are not interested in researching facts but in believing the leader they chose.
He doesn't care about combating crime but about preventing the coming elections from turning around against him. He knows his followers will believe, support, and act on his words.
Here is more proof of what this OP is stating:
Trump suggests more cities need National Guard but crime stats tell a different story
Using the National Guard is a military maneuver that is used by Dictators to seize power. That is exactly what Trump is trying to do:
