A smart person would take his lumps and move on. Trump is not a smart person. Let’s assume that the “best people” that Trump brought to his Cabinet and the White House picked the statute most favorable to his tariff plans. One of the most conservative Supreme Courts since the Civil War beat him with a stick.

Most likely, any new version of Trump tariffs would be thrown out at the District Court level very quickly. The court would likely leave an injunction against the new tariffs in place until the case works its way to the Supreme Court. At this level, there are no do-overs. The High Court would decline to hear the case and the injunction would stand.

He's going to use different powers this time.

Like when xiden got smacked down giving student loan debts a pass then tried again?

Or when the court blocked Obama’s DAPA/DACA program?

Or when

Tariffs are an astounding success. Prices are dropping inflation slowing, the annual deficit is down to 1.7 trillion from 2.6 trillion. Tariffs are bringing manufacturing here from Europe that means more real jobs. Our businesses are now protected. Where is the problem

These swine are so far lost with TDS and communism they are like a Junkie or an Alkie. They will have to hit rick bottom to understand.

Not one of them or phony middkers have ever wised up a centimeter on this site over decades. They are incapable of logical though process.

They will need to stand in line for sacks of soft potato to eat raw before they "see the light". Roving gangs on their street raping and pillaging all as they run out the back into hiding.

President Trump policies could save them all from a world of hurt but time is short. With the entire GOVT stalling and fighting his regime, it appears he can only delay the inevitable. //

You, once again, reveal just how delusional you are. What prices are dropping? Gas? That is about all I can figure. Strawberries seem cheap and I don't think of getting me some laying hens anymore. But no, they are up. Damn, about had a heart attack at McDonald's drive thru today, been a while.

And all that deficit reduction, it is from tariffs, spending is still growing, and now, well that tariff revenue has to be returned. The trade deficit has hardly budged. Job growth has been terrible, and GDP growth. So fawking comical. Estimated GDP growth, fourth quarter, 4% you trumpeted, among others. Whoops, numbers are in, 1.4% annualized rate fourth quarter. Crickets.

But yes, the tariffs have been an astounding success, for Trump, for the market, for the rich and powerful. Like I knew they would all along. Like they always do. But the reality is, those tariffs, that will now be happily deposited into business accounts, nice guaranteed government checks, came out of the pockets of real, working Americans. That is just sad.

In normal times, the press would ask him what Sri Lanka, Paraguay, Madagascar, Romania, or Portugal (just to name a nation or 4 ) did to incure a 10% tariff on goods we buy from them and wait for an answer that we’d all get to study and consider if it passed the smell test.

Today, it’s not the case.

His supporters are just happy he’s causing consternation....they don’t really care who it hurts as long as it doesn’t hurt them personally. And when it does hurt them personally, they are too dumb or (more likely) numb to understand why.

That is what is so damn strange to me. These tariffs, under the Trade Act, temporary, they can only be imposed to Battle a payment deficit. For many countries Trump is targeting, that is not the case. They know, going in, they are on the wrong side of the law and they don't give two fawking shits. It is insulting. This administration is jerking everyone around and laughing the entire time.

Just to prove how stupid Trump is. He had months to prepare for the courts decision, and had no back up plan at all. He couldn't even stick to his own knee jerk reaction on Friday, and changed that on Saturday.

To prove how deluded and corrupt he is. He actually believed the court was loyal to him as if they were just capos in the crime family.

There is no stupid like maga stupid.

Well no.

As I understand the ruling, arbitrarily imposing tariffs was ruled unconstitutional because it cuts Congress out of the picture.

The SCOTUS told him he can’t use the “emergency” powers act to impose the tariffs. He can, impose them, by other means.

Its been about 10 years so few remember but the way government is supposed to work is having two co-equal branches making policies.

So tariffs are legal as long as they are imposed correctly. As was explained in the analysis of the ruling; imposition of the tariffs requires a review within 150 days. If Congress approves...the tariffs stay in place. Co-governing.
