Trump’s Big Tariff Talk Crumbles. He’s Backing Down Big Time!

If you walk into a car lot and offer $1 for a car.. that's not "negotiating skills". That is trolling. How does this make sense?

Didn’t make sense because if you announce a starting point, which is the point that you really want, you are at a disadvantage because the other side will think that’s your maximum and we’ll go lower. Negotiation means posturing, blustering, bluffing and tenacity like you are in a poker game with a nine high and the other guy has two pair, but thinks you have a straight flush.

As I said, I suspect most liberals here have never owned a business or worked in private industry where they had to negotiate, especially with the world leaders. Trump is a master at it and why he is worth many billions of dollars.

“you always ask for the sun and take the moon when you are negotiating.”

Which is why you’re a leftist moron. Negotiating from a position where you attempt to humiliate your counterpart with an unrealistic offer makes you dishonest and unreliable.

Trump’s getting roasted in the latest New York Times piece, and it’s juicy! He was strutting around, promising 145% tariffs on Chinese goods would force companies to build factories in the USA. But surprise, surprise—his big plan’s a total dud! Big dogs like Walmart and Target told him straight: his tariffs would jack up prices and leave shelves empty. Now Trump’s admitting they’re a bust and backing off fast.

Where’s the “deal-maker” who was gonna make the world beg? Looks like reality slapped him silly!

The article’s got more dirt. Trump’s not just caving on tariffs. He’s dodging other fights too. He backed off firing the Federal Reserve chairman and, with the stock market down 10% since he started, his Treasury secretary’s scrambling to avoid a full-on trade war with China. This is the guy who said he’d make global trade bow to America, but now he’s learning it’s not as easy as tweeting tough. The Times calls it a “vivid case study” in Trump’s economic faceplant. Anyone else cracking up at this?

Trump’s crew is spinning it like he’s playing 4D chess, with his press secretary saying “have patience” and claiming 90 countries are ready to deal. Yeah, sure, Karoline! Sounds like a weak excuse for a guy who’s in way over his head. Check out the full takedown on nytimes.com. It’s brutal. So, what’s the vibe? Is Trump’s retreat a total humiliation, or are his diehards still buying the “genius” act? Spill the tea below and let’s clown this flop! #TrumpTariffs #BigL

That's pretty bush league stuff my man. I have been in business for 30 years and have been a senior exec at multiple fortune 500 and a few fortune 50 companies. Explain that chart to me please.

The most important countries -- China, Japan, Canada, Mexico, India, Germany -- know he's a buffoon, they know he's trying to "Art of the Deal" them. So they're taking their time. They'll sign agreements at some point, but they're not going to bend over for him.

In the end, the material improvements will be marginal, and nowhere near worth the damage he has caused to our global reputation and influence. Every trading partner is moving away from us, and that will continue. They're even moving away from the dollar and Treasuries. That could cause us real damage, and they know it. But they're not our friends any more.

Is there a more destructive, stupid, self-inflicted wound in our history? Not that I can think of.
$36 Trillion in debt, and this stupid orange cock sucker believes a tariff war, eliminating DEI, anti-x-tian bias, possibly social safety nets and a tax cut is the solution.

If this is the pinnacle of the efforts from our political parties to eliminate our deficit, then we are truly, truly not serious about eliminating our deficit.

I want you to leave this board and never ever ever come back. That is my starting point. How motivated are you to negotiate with me? Are you going to settle for going away for a year since i started at forever?

Well, look at their incentives and rewards. They have no reason to look long term. Ever.

That's our "system". And the American people don't care enough to fix it.

Of course you have, dear. Was that during your roll of the dice while playing Monopoly?

Let’s negotiate. Go to your cry corner and cry silently until you’re told to go play in traffic.

Correct. They just want to blame each other for it. Like immigration.

I think there is a (democrat) portion of the population that doesn’t care to fix it. That’s because they were profiting from it.

Taxpayer money was used for subscriptions to leftist tabloids pushing their politico- religious ideology as taxpayer money was used to press their psycho-sexual perversions such as tranny comic books and queer musicals, operas on foreign nations which never asked for such vulgarity.

Huh. I thought starting big was a fool proof strategy? Apparently ridiculous demands are just ridiculous demands and not a negotiation strategy.

Obviously, the tariffs imposed on US goods, will be renegotiated.

Seems simple enough.
Yes they will be. Renegotiating tariffs is not the issue. It’s how Trump is going about it and the damage he is causing on the way

What do you need help with?
Trump went from no tariffs to having higher tariffs than China then ripped them up at the end to 145%. What is he trying to accomplish? If it’s lower tariffs… we used to have that. If it’s no tariffs. We used to have that. If it’s the high tariffs we have, then why negotiate? What is the goal?

To what? They were zero under Obama by both countries. Trump raised them to 20% on 60% of goods which is about 13% and higher than China had on us. Now they are 145% on 100% of goods. What is the goal and why?

You really are clueless.

“President Obama slapped a stiff 35% tariff on Chinese tires in 2009 after American companies complained about unfair competition.”

lol. One industry that both the ITC and WTC ruled against China for dumping in 2008. This was a good use of tariffs. China screwed up that industry.

Tariffs that are fair to Americans. I realize that some leftists are globalists and think that we should just get along with all countries and that we should be happy just being a third rate nation like we were under Biden. But Trump and myself happen to believe that nationalism is the best recipe for any country.

If there are any at all.
