President Donald Trump is plotting a final stand in Congress on Jan. 6, casting it as the ultimate loyalty test in his quest to remain in power and shutting out anyone who won’t get in line.

Trump has been strategizing in recent days with a band of his fiercest congressional supporters about the effort, which will involve lodging objections during the typically pro forma congressional certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

***********

So the most pitiful and pathetic president in the history of this country will have Congressional Republicans choose on January 6th, the date Congress finalizes and certifies the Electoral College results, between loyalty to him or fidelity to the Constitution.

Trumpers on this board, as well as other political forums, have made clear that loyalty to Trump is far more important than loyalty to the Country and our Constitution. According to the fanatical Trumper, our constitutional order is subject to the whim of the autocratic Trump. To the Trumper it is one man, one vote. One man being Trump, and all of us being so much flotsam and jetsam.

So who will you support on January 6th?

Trump or America?

Even Moscow Mitch knows this is a dumb idea and his urging senate republicans to stay clear.

Of course it is a dumb idea. It is beyond dumb. It is absolutely unAmerican in every sense.

It's interesting how Republicans think that a president with one American-born parent is American, but only if he is white.

Only one plausible explanation for such a double standard

Both

Hard to grasp im sure but with the alternative the choice is easy

Our beloved Pres.Trump has proven himself to be a magnificent ruler and knows what is best for his country and people. ...
*His* people.

... meaning the poorly educated, basket dwelling, deplorable dupes that he loves long time as long as they adorn him & give him cash.

Sometimes a fight is worth having even if you know you are going to lose.

The Republicans in Congress want to have the opportunity to present the evidence of fraud(etc), on television, on the floor of the House and Senate. It will come to nothing, but it will lay the groundwork to demand real vote security in 2022 and beyond.

Wrong..the precedent this will set will be that any loser in a presidential election can petition Congress to overturn the results of the popular vote or even the electoral college results, and make such a Congressional vote a choice between loyalty to the individual or loyalty to the nation. Will party loyalty trump loyalty to the election process? What Trump's doing is pure third world shithole politics.
