Trumpian MAGA response has give us a glimpse to what could be coming for everybody if the totalitarians, who wish to ignore (if not do away with) the constitution, rule of law, separation of Fed and State, by brutality endorsed, and tolerated, (if not supported and recommended), could be, and it is far from the vision of the founding fathers, or what the people will tolerate without fighting back with various forms of resistance, political pressure and a realignment at the ballot box, at least temporarily, like for the next 8 or 12 years. But, necessary (even knowing they will go too far, also) if we are to keep the country within constitutional bounds. Without that, we will fall to an existence more like a Russian oligarchy, and like Russia, the country will fail.

I hate the way they are being used, at the hands of those directing and supporting. They need to get it together, go back to professional low key operations or funding so severely restricted, they cannot push the country to militarized occupation.
Get Rid of the storm trooper masks and combat dress, cooperate on all investigations of use of force, without proclaiming innocents before any investigation can be done and severely punish those that cross the line in dealing with the public, with severe reduction in qualified immunity and long pardon proof jail sentences. Bad decisions must have known expected consequence on both sides, if the people are going to remain or regain control of big government.

Would you rather move into a totalitarian state, knowing there is no going back, or have a more measured slower reduction of illegal aliens, with the border sealed to get or keep a handle on the problem?

Not if they were acting within the law, and not as occupying fascists storm troopers. Real law enforcement is widely supported, as not trying to be the focus of political oppression of the Government, based on voting history of the city, to where they are sent. Masks and combat gear not necessary, unless planning to do things outside the law. If that is the plan, no need to protect, as undeserving. They could simply go back to professional conduct and equal enforcement, no matter if the city voted against Trump or not.
