Trump to rename Veterans Day as Victory Day

I've heard the holiday referred to as Armistice Day, it's original name.

For one moment each year in Anthem, Arizona, on Nov 11th at 11:11 the Sun shines through 5 pillars honoring our military.

The monument was designed by a local resident of Anthem named Renee Palmer-Jones. The pillars are quite high (tallest is 17 feet) and the order of the branches of the armed service were placed in accordance with Department of Defense protocol—United States Army, the United States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard. As for me, it looks like a poor attempt to imitate the Russian Cult of Victory.

You know, victory is good for the whole nation, while your personal fighting and survival (which basically the word "veteran" is about) is just your personal business. Nobody really cares.
In some way, it may be even emphatisation of tellurocratic part of American mentality, "returning to the land from the sea". You know, America has some problems on the land with her neighbours and those problems could demand more direct and "tellurocratic" approaches.

There will be a big parade in the UK on Monday to commemorate and celebrate the victory over the Nazis in Europe in 1945, then it was reported the Ukrainian fascists have been invited to take part, wouldn't surprise me if a Galizian SS tribute act shows up, they have politicised the event just like they did with the Auschwitz commemoration not inviting the people who actually liberated the Camp, nauseating.

Just a symbolic confirmation that HMG are the Nazies now. Nothing actually new. If Britain wants to commit suicide, it will commit suicide. All what we can do - is to minimise our own losses (by eliminating Britain first).

This vet thinks it's ******* stupid. Who gives this asshole these ideas?

Then a parade to honor the Army? Yep, that would be fine if it wasn't on his birthday and we all know why it's on that day and it's nothing about honoring the Army but rather himself.

I am surprised he didn't make good Friday and Easter about the day the dems tried to impeach him equating dying on the cross and his resurrection 4 years later.

He needs to stick to business and quit all this side bullshit. ******* moron.

I hereby rename Trump stupid asshole!

On this picture he raised one finger, as Muslims do (or as if he is preparing to do a pointing gesture), not two or three fingers as Roman-Catholics and Orthodox Chiristians do for blessing.
In many Christian traditions, three fingers outstretched (thumb and first two fingers) represent the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), while the two fingers bent to the palm represent the two natures of Christ (divine and human). This hand gesture is often used during blessings, particularly by clergy. It is also seen in depictions of the hands of Christ in sacred art, further symbolizing the unity of Christ with the Trinity.

One finger represents a booger is present on the finger, get it off, get it off.

Trump is intent into turning us to a clone of the old Soviet Union . You know with worthless military parades, propaganda cabinet meetings, and statues to the dear leader.

This is what MAGAs want for this country.
:cuckoo:

Trump is a bolo and couldn't serve because he was scared.

Yes.
One finger represents a booger is present on the finger, get it off, get it off.
And among Muslims (especially terrorists) one finger represents that Allah is the one and only God. "No double or triple natures" as they say.

I don't know what did Trump actually mean by this jesture. He didn't explain it yet.

Jimmy Carter used to deal with scheduling use of the White House tennis court. In Trump case he enjoys the mundane task of renaming things. I suppose every president has their quirts.

When I was a kid it was "Decoration Day". Maybe lefties should pull themselves together and stop worrying about this kind of stuff.

I think it's more along the lines of what you are celebrating.

November 11th was initially known as Armistice Day. It celebrated the Armistice of the First World War, which was supposed to be the war to end all wars. Didn't quite work out that way.

In 1954, it was renamed Veterans Day to honor the veterans of all wars, and that was... kind of sensible.

NOW-- there's the problem with Cheeto Hitler wanting to rename it "Victory in World War I Day".

It wasn't really a victory, was it? The war ground down to a stalemate, and everyone was afraid that workers' revolutions would overthrow the warring governments like they had already in Russia and Germany. So everyone agreed to an incomplete peace, treaties that were needless vindictive, and a second world war where the losers of the first one (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria) teamed up with members of the Allies who didn't get nearly enough out of the peace. (Italy and Japan). There's really not much to "Celebrate", other than the failure.

But honoring veterans, (Something Mango Mussolini will never be) is a decent thing to do.
