"I just want to congratulate. I think you're going to have hopefully a really great mayor and the better he does, the happier I am," Trump said. "I will say there's no difference in party. There's no difference in anything. And we're going to be helping him, to make everybody's dream come true, having a strong and very safe New York and congratulations, Mr. mayor."

Because this is the guy who fell in love with a brutal North Korean communist dictator.

This is the guy who admires and compliments the leader of Communist China.

This is the guy who cannot quit his love for the mass murdering war criminal communist dictator of Russia.

This the far left limousine liberal New York Democrat I warned in 2016 would lead his followers into the far left cave. And he has.

Unfortunately, that's all utter nonsense that flowed from Trump's idiot mouth, because he was totally disarmed by Mamdhani. Mamdhani treated him like a poorly behaved toddler and didn't react to Trump's distractions and incoherent rambling.

So Trump, in an effort to make himself feel in control of the situation, retreated to pleasantries. In Trump's smooth brain, the meeting went very well precisely because of how Trump handled it. Nevermind the contrast between a person talking governance and policy and a lost old man spouting rote lies and personal grievances.

It was a pretty classic example of how to handle a narcissistic sociopath with no real principles, save for glorification of self.

Show nothing, when the narcissist baits. Stay on message, as the narcissist flails and retreats to the playbook. The narcissist will retreat to a charm offensive. Even more effective, with a global audience.

Zelensky has learned this lesson. And Mamdhani was watching.

Remember, Mamdhani isn't just some rapper turned social media phenom. He was also a successful campaign manager. The man is polished and well trained. His approach was calculated.

But let's not mistake this public display for anything but the narcissist saving face for 20 minutes, in light of someone who was 8 steps ahead of him. No, Trump has not turned over a new leaf.

Mamdani told reporters Monday that his team had contacted the White House to propose a meeting as part of a pledge to voters to “address the affordability crisis that is pushing so many of them out of the city” and that Trump's economic policies were contributing to high costs of living in New York.
