And the agents will no longer need to fulfill a longstanding requisite for joining the bureau: a bachelor’s degree.
As a reference, the Austin Police academy is approximately 8 months, followed by a 12 week field training program with an FTO.

If you want to point fingers, look no further that what colleges are teaching these days. Colleges are lowering standards as with high school and other professions because of DEI. For example, I thought I would never live to see the day that taking the MCAT test for entrance into medical school is an option or airlines wanting more diverse pilots because too many white dudes are pilots. Fixing the damages caused by DEI is not an overnight fix. When Private and government institutions are seeking a diverse force, standards must be lowered and society pays the price.
