President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that the federal government might revoke the licenses of broadcast television networks that are “against” him.

Trump’s comment came a day after ABC suspended airing the “Jimmy KimmelLive!” show because of comments its host made linking the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk to Trump’s MAGA movement.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr earlier on Wednesday had hinted that the broadcast license of ABC — which is a subsidiary of Disney — was at risk if it did not “take action on Kimmel.”

Trump’s message is clear: No dissent or criticism will be brooked. You criticize Trump you will be prosecuted and he will silence you.

Trump’s war on the free press continues.

Trump the good little wannabe authoritarian.

Same peas in a pod.

Licensed in the public interest networks have no business whatsoever being "against" the duly elected President of the United States or any other political figure, nor "against" any perceived opponents of the president or any other political figure.

The public interest is to use those extremely valuable rights to specific parts of the airwaves to provide programing worth watching for its entertainment value, and news that aims to inform, not convince.

Bullshit.

Any privately owned newspaper, news site, news cable channel, or any other news outlet that has not agreed to operate in the public interest is welcome to "dissent" all they please, even if their idea of "dissent" consists of following the DNC line to the letter.

Did you make that yourself?

Government has no business telling any news outlet who and who they cannot criticize. If you want to live in a society where the “public interest” is defined as your devotion to the party or to the leader, you are living in the wrong country. North Korea, China, Russia, Iran, may be more suited for you.

Trump being Trump. He knows he can't do that.
The problem is he's telling people that fascism is here. People will believe that he can do this, that it's acceptable to do this.

The next guy who comes along might just do it and people will think it's okay. As long as he has the Supreme Court and Congress behind him, he can do whatever he likes.

Your response is not a reply to anything I said.

What do you think about me suing ABC for denying me my First Amendment rights by not giving me Kimmel's late night spot?

I'm entitled to it, aren't I?

Are you going to engrave that on another bullet, dipshit?

You're the problem:

"Fascist, fascist, fascist!!! We've got to win elections, everyone thinks we're idiots after that whole "Biden is sharp as a tack" debacle...and this stupid "fascism" schtick is all we have left.

Sure, this rhetoric got a good man assassinated, but who gives a ****. We hated him anyway... And did I mention this is all we've got???

The first amendment says the government will not pass any law abridging the freedom of speech or the press.

You have no first amendment rights to force ABC, USA Today or MAD magazine to give you a job.

Bullshit.

ABC is LICENSED by the Government and regulated by the FCC. Part of that regulation is a stipulation that broadcasted programming MAY NOT INTENTIONALLY MISLEAD THE PUBLIC.

Are you uninformed? Or just another lying left-wing piece of moldy dog shit lying directly through their teeth, just like Kimmel?

Unless you exercise fascist central control over the News Media, you cannot contain their reporting, and control of the story, and knowledge of the masses.

He floated the idea, but, will not accomplish this fascist goal. Turds float, but sooner or later, they get flushed, though often not before causing a stink.

Let me give you a lesson here. Rather than quoting an idiotic meme as you are doing, let’s go directly to the source, the FCC. What does the FCC have say:
What is the FCC's responsibility?

The limitations on the FCC's power to restrict or ban speech begin with the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which decrees that the federal government "shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." Accordingly, Congress through Section 326 of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C. § 326, explicitly declared that nothing in the statute

shall be understood or construed to give the Commission the power of censorship over the [broadcast] communications or signals transmitted by any [broadcast] station, and no regulation or condition shall be promulgated or fixed by the Commission which shall interfere with the right of free speech by means of [over-the-air] broadcast communication.

Pursuant to these legal mandates, the FCC has long held that "the public interest is best served by permitting free expression of views." Rather than suppress speech, communications law and policy seeks to encourage responsive "counter-speech" from others. Following this principle ensures that the most diverse and opposing opinions will be expressed, even though some views or expressions may be highly offensive.

Nevertheless, what power the FCC has to regulate content varies by electronic platform. Over-the-air broadcasts by local TV and radio stations are subject to certain speech restraints, but speech transmitted by cable or satellite TV systems generally is not. The FCC does not regulate online content.

The FCC does impose certain restraints and obligations on broadcasters. Speech regulations are confined to specific topics, which usually have been identified by Congress through legislation or adopted by the FCC through full notice-and-comment rulemaking or adjudicatory proceedings. These topics include:

In other words, the FCC can not censor political speech. It is a violation of the 1st amendment.
If you gave a damn about the Constitution, you would find Trump’s actions revolting.

Kimmel's lies are both a hoax and broadcast news distortion.

According to your own information, these are violations.

Kimmel wasn't making jokes.

It was straight up propaganda, misleading the public, over broadcast airwaves regulated by the FCC.

Kimmel can say whatever lies he wants on cable, but broadcast television is licensed and regulated.

THOSE ARE THE FACTS.

Nothing you wrote remotely justifies the FCC threatening to pull ABC’s license over Kimme;s comments.

They're not idiotic memes, troglodyte... they are GOOGLE AI responses.

And Google ain't exactly the most right leaning source, so when they tell you you fucked up. You can believe it.

You can say "Oh, Jimmy Kimmel wasn't actually trying to gaslight the entire country over broadcast television...he was just mistaken!"

That defeats the purpose of gaslighting the nation, which is why Kimmel offered no retraction and no apology.

If News distortion was a reason to pull a network license, FOX News would have been off the air years ago.

As a matter of fact, “news distortion” is in the eye of the beholder. If we go with your theory, every new presidential administration will say any network criticizing them is engaging in news distortion and pull their license. Is that the fucked up world you want to live in?

Are you an idiot???

Fox News is a CABLE CHANNEL!

Cable channels ARE NOT UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE FCC OR IT'S RULES OR LEGAL REGULATIONS.

I have already debunked this stupidity THREE TIMES today.

All you dipshits get the same stupid talking points from the same uninformed retards and repeat it like you've discovered the ******* holy Grail ad nauseum!

This is exactly why you fuckchops believe the gaslighting propagandistic lies Kimmel spews.

Because your a bunch of ignorant asses with no ability to think for yourselves.

Kimmel lied.

It is a known lie.

Everyone who pays attention KNOWS he lied through his teeth.

Even Gemini knows, and Google restrains it with guardrails that restrict it from upsetting anyone.

When Gemini says there is zero evidence, you can believe it, because it loves both-sides-ism with a passion.

Kimmel’s comment had nothing to do with whether the shooter was MAGA, but was mocking Trump’s response at a press conference. You guys have blown it all out of proportion because you hate Kimmel.

BTW I can’t stand Kimmel either. I don’t find him funny, but will defend his right to be unfunny.
