Trump threatens to federalize DC after ex-DOGE employee 'Big Balls' violently beaten

No and yes.
Not sure where or how you see Congress “starving” DC when DC is bloated bureaucratic inefficiency. DC has had a half century to demonstrate they can operate as Home Rule and have done nothing but cry poor mouth and blame lack of money while they waste money and resources.

Yet states have different ages for determining what is officially an adult. So there is disagreement and it is just states setting the date for when they consider someone an adult.

So there is no consensus , just the state setting an age for what they consider an adult. There are different ages so who is right.

It just matters what state you live in
In everyone of those states a judge can say that due to the nature and quality of the act, the juvenile will be tried as an adult.

It has little control. As Congress can reverse anything the home rule government does. And frequently does so. Also, the largest land owner in the District pays NO taxes, property taxes or otherwise.

Trump did?

🤣

Did you really just say that with a straight face?

You think it's strange that the entire country recognizes the difference between a Japanese historical site and a Native American site?

I'm pretty sure that makes you the strange one.
You also know that natives never laid claim to this country or established any borders, right? They were too busy slaughtering each other through tribal war until one tribe foe extinct. Only Democrats believe them as highly productive innovative folks acting curator to the land. .

Ever been there ?
Yes, long time ago. Wasn't as bad as now. Since your St. Floyd made the sacrifice and ascended to heaven, Democrats believe criminal activities by blacks should be rewarded. I know Newsom rewarded them.

DC Home Rule is Duplicitous. Put DC all under Federal directly and remove unnecessary and wasteful layers. DC is not a State nor can or should be. If DC is too big, cede the outlying areas 1 mile radius beyond White House, Hill, Agencies to Maryland and Virginia or create a new state.

This is hilarious. The claim here is that he fought off a gang of a dozen men to protect a young woman from assault. Musk is broadcasting this account and calling for the government ot take control of DC, with trump using the anecdote to promote the same thing on fox.

The only problem here is it didn't happen. Metro Police say Mr "big balls" was apparently carjacked by a pair of 15 years old kids, one of them a girl, both of whom were unarmed.

Sounds like those balls were just full of hot air to me.

An opinion piece from New Republic?! A leftwing opinion piece, seriously?

this sounds a bit different

not that you ever cared about hte facts

Hi Shocker; why do you think he'd be overstepping his Authority. The Left ALREADY considers him a nazi etc etc so who cares WHAT they say. They're trash so I doubt anyone would give a fig. BB has earned his way; all Kudos to him. There should be more doing likewise.

Greg

Big Balls doesn't is a mindless **** without the common sense God gave a goose. Ignorant, entitled, and just plain nasty. This little shit took great delight in firing people and ending lifelong careers. It was take generations to repair the damage done by this entitled piece of garbage.

Just reading his posts makes me want to pin a medal on whoever it was who beat the crap outta him.

firearms are not the leading cause of murder in Japan.

You're asking the wrong question Phart. The correct question is "What is the murder rate in Japan, versus the murder rate in the USA?"

The answer is 0.23 per 100,000 of population in Japan, and 6.3 per 100,000 in the USA. The murder rate in the USA is nearly 120 times higher than the murder rate in Japan. 76% of murders in the USA are committed with firearms. Knives are the murder weapon of choice in Japan.

6 out of 10 suicides in the USA, also use guns.

And none of this covers the more than 100,000 people wounded by gunfire, who survive.

The leading cause of death for CHILDREN in the USA, is gun violence.

And still you keep demanding the "right" to own guns.

I've owned firearms for 60 years and have yet to shoot someone.

don't bother responding to my posts.

all it does is make me wonder is what the day nurse is doing instead of watching you.

Good for you. If you haven't shot anyone in 60 years, what's the point of owning a gun? I would consider something I have never used in 60 years to be a complete waste of money.

I've never owned a gun and have never had need to own a gun. I didn't bother wasting my money.

You're projecting again, Phart (great user name and so descriptive of your posts). I live independently, and haven't had a "day nurse", since I was in hospital and had my knee replaced 4 years ago. Hope you're in a decent home, at least. I hear some of those places in the USA are really bad.

If I were you, I'd stop paying for life insurance,

it's a complete waste of money.

have any hobbies, stupid?

Mine is/was making holes sheets of paper at various distances

good bye.

This would be a bad decision by Trump in my opinion. If I am him, I view carefully the issue of crime as there are forces who want to hurt his administration and find reasons to paint him as a strong man who is operating like a king. They did it before 2020 as well to cut into his broader appeal and it probably worked.

It''s one thing to weigh in on an issue, another to step over a line.

As an example, Premier Ford and former Mayor Tory weighed in on a legal issue and then both went silent and tried to change the subject when the facts came out which made them look like impulsive fascists.

Regardless of what is facts or not, Trump overstepping his boundaries is setting a precedence that could impact Florida, Texas or Arizona in the future while at the same time allowing MSNBC and especially CNN (who are appealing more to Independents and libertarians of late, even if slightly) to view Trump as a tyrant looking for any excuse to take away powers relegated to the states (or municipalities) while having an entirely different opinion as it refers to Roe vs Wade.

Stay consistent and let the United STATES be just that. Though I understand D.C is technically not a state, some people might be trying to harm him in the midterms and it doesn't take much to lose the support from those hard to reach communities that GOP never tapped into in the past.

President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to federalize Washington, D.C., calling for local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be prosecuted as adults, after a famed former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee was allegedly beaten in the nation's capital.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said local youth and gang members are "randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released."

Along with the post, Trump shared a photo of a bloodied man on the street.

Does the District of Columbia need to be federalized? It’s already federal property. D.C. is not a state; it is a federal district administered by the United States government. Congress serves as its legislature, and the President of the United States functions, in effect, as its governor.
I understand that my view that the President serving as the governor is a view not held by everyone, but to me, it stands to reason.

A state has the authority to assume control over certain functions of a city if that city has demonstrated incompetence or inability to govern effectively. This has occurred several times in recent years, particularly involving school districts. So, it stands to reason that Congress or the President could take over administration of D.C. under similar logic.
