Is this acceptable to MAGA? We constantly hear complaints about Soros funding far left extremists for political office. Can a former colleague of the man for nearly two decades be trusted to be the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury?

Hedge fund mogul Scott Bessent, the pro-tariff Wall Street veteran and former colleague of Democratic megadonor George Soros, will become perhaps the most prominent voice shaping the Trump economy, with Bessent reportedly earning Trump’s nomination to become his Treasury Secretary amid a high-profile power struggle for the post.

Bessent worked for Soros from 1991 to 2000, rising to the firm’s head of European allocation by his departure, and returned to Soros from 2011 to 2015 as the fund’s chief investment officer, departing again to run Key Square with a $2 billion investment from the 94-year-old Soros (the Wall Street Journal reports Bessent hasn’t talked to his former boss Soros “in years”).

He worked for Soros 25 years ago….

So yea, not concerned.

Yeah, he made ALL of his money with Soros. He kept in touch with George Soros on a regular basis after he left.

He is 100% for Wall Street.

You rubes have ZERO clue how this all works. Keep on whorin', theHawKKK

LOL

I’m sure lots of people were colleagues with him. He’s been around a long time

Just glad it’s former.

Is this acceptable to MAGA?

The question is why is it acceptable to you?
  • Every republican from McCain to Cheney was the devil's spawn to you UNTIL THEY SWITCHED SIDES AND FOUND REBIRTH SUPPORTING DEMOCRATIC CAUSES as Never-Trumpers. Then you had your tongue up their asses.
So now here is a guy who LEFT Soros; he saw the light. But you would have us believe that people never change-- EXCEPT WHEN THEY CHANGE IN A WAY BENEFICIAL TO DEMOCRATS.

He wasn't part of Soro's political operations, he was finance suit for one of Soro's Hedge Funds. He has his own philanthropy and political ops (he donated 1 million smackers to the 2016 Trump Campaign Inaugural Committee).

As far as I can tell, he's just a run of the mill Wall Street douche bag like many of the Treasury Sec's before him (e.g. Hank Paulson) with the caveat that he's a big supporter of tariffs.

The deal that was apparently struck was the target growth of 3% a year, not like the 5% Mnuchin had, but kept getting 2%.
Also with a Budget cut of only 3% a year????

I wanted Elon's $2T cut not 3% a year from a bloated $6.7T Budget.
Wall Street may be putting the brakes on Elon & ViVek's slash and burn approach to Budget cutting??
