What does the order say?

The order says cartels are a national security threat in a way that traditional organized crime is not. They have conducted a "campaign of violence and terror through the Western hemisphere" with destabilizing effects, including a flood of "deadly drugs, violent criminals, and vicious gangs" into the United States.

It also says the cartels, as well as two transnational gangs rooted in Central America, pose a national security threat to the U.S., and it says it is American policy to "ensure the total elimination of these organizations' presence in the U.S."

The order instructs the U.S. State Department to recommend, within 14 days, whether to designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

I can't argue, can you?

Moreover, what should then be done?

This issue should not just unify both political parties, the issue should unify the entire world.

Let me be clear, with about 400 Americans dying every day from these cartels and the pain and suffering they peddle across the globe, no mercy should be shown to these parasites of humanity. None!!

You took issue with how old my article was

Why?

This was not a satire post idiot. Speaking of which, I could really care less if you like them.

There is no real need to send planes like that and go to all that expense.

All you need are a myriad of silent and invisible drones that are cheap and easy..

How are Cartels terrorist organisations....

If you want fight them with the wrong tools go on ahead...

Fighting drug cartels is very different to fighting terrorist organisation. They want different things and thus have different weaknesses...

There is also international cooperation with various countries in the world. Police forces around the world don't liaise with foreign armies they work with police forces around Interpol. You are bringing a sledgehammer to a knife fight.

Again, I said this before the game is Chess and ye want to play Snap...

So the speech is all lovely and you can pound the desk a few times but you are just making a ******* fool of yourself. UK Police will still ring up the FBI under Interpol cooperation to investigate financial accounts of suspects..
You seriously have to stop believing movies...

The US sends drones to terrorists they don't like all around the world, even assassinating an American citizen overseas.

Yet they don't do this for drug cartels?

They know who they are and where they are and probably know more about them than they know about themselves, due to the surveillance capabilities they now have.

Maybe Trump should have not cut aid to security forces south of the border...

James Nealon, a former U.S. ambassador to Honduras, said Trump's explanation of foreign aid sounds as though "somebody tried to explain to him where the money goes and he just didn't get it."
Some U.S. money does go directly to government agencies, including grants to support police, border security agents and judicial employees in those countries. But Nealon, who resigned from the administration last year over policy disagreements, said most of the money goes to U.S. contractors, non-profit organizations, and other private groups under close supervision from USAID and the State Department.

So Trump is cutting money to fight Drug Cartels south of the border and then is ******* clueless why there are more people fleeing the area in US and more Drugs are coming...
Doesn't sound like the brightest spark in the room..

The US is not serious about fighting the drug problem

If they were, they would be doing this

Additionally, they would not let the drug dealers out of jail like they do.

They refuse to fight and then declare the war unwinnable.

First of all, I don't view this war as winnable. That is a false narrative. It would be akin to saying we can't beat heart disease so why try? No, it is not winnable, but it could and should be fought and do it much better than they do.

The problem is, there is no real money in protecting the lives of Americans, much like there is no real money in stopping abortions.

But there is money in selling drugs and/or having abortions, which is why they reign supreme.

My guess is most, it not all, of the Swamp is taking a cut from the cartels to look the other way.

Are you serious...

Drones US send are to countries that either too screwed up to police there airways and have permission of the government....

Do you think any country is going to let the US drone strike a populated area... This isn't Gaza...

Drug Cartels are based in large cities... Drones are great for surveillance and US and Mexico used to have them until Trump cut the budget.. But those were generally police operations, Trump seems to be putting back what he cut but just worse and more expensive..

I'm pretty sure drones and carpet bombing the cartels just South or our border will do the trick.

Why do you defend these cartels?

I don't recall drug abuse going down during Trump's first administration either.

His talk may be tough, but his actions not so much

We will see once again.

Patience should be wanning thin though with the American people. At least Trump says he wants to fight them and secure the border as where the other side visibly could care less.

The bottom line is that these cartels are more powerful today than ever before.

Soon they may become unstoppable.

How is not designating them a terrorist oganization not idiotic?

What terrorist organization other than drug cartels kill 400 Americans a day?

If we can't call them terrorists, then why even have the term?

It's time to stop pretending they are not as bad as the Taliban.

No, they are far worse.

Use USSOCOM units to take out the Cartels.

A bit of that is out of the movies...

The main way you track them down is money... Follow the cash is the mantra in Europe who have been better at this than US recently...

They have Criminal Asset Bureau in each country who are like the IRS with guns... They all talk the same language around finding money and tracing it... They are no joke if they find them... They don't need to find drugs or guns, just where did you get that (any Asset)...
No bombs or drones needed..

These were the one of the biggest gangs in Europe:

They have them running around the world and are now believed to be in Russia. One of there own will do the job eventually.

This is the real police work to find out who is responsibile.
