A judge can (under certain conditions) permit the Grand Jury minutes to be unsealed (because such minutes are sealed as a a matter of law until that time).

The investigatory material collected by the FBI for a presentment to any federal Grand Jury are also BY LAW not even open to FOIA disclosure absent a JUDGE’s approval. I already explained this.

Congress “directing” a Federal Department or Agency or Bureau to do such a disclosure is, itself, not an exception to the law. More simply states for your very simple little mind: Congress cannot order the President to break the law.

Is there a public interest in finding out if any public officials had sexual contact with any minors at Epstein Island? Yes. Is that public interest sufficient to release the “Epstein files?” No.

Some of those files may properly be subject to disclosure. But, some may not. So, neither you nor I know whether (or not) someone advising the President had told him that disclosure might be unlawful.

I still see the Dim “demand” for disclosure of the “Epstein files” as a plodding attempt to smear this President and as a way of distracting him and Congress from proceeding with all the other matters the Administration is working on or planning.

The smartest thing Congress could do now is pass the resolution with a veto proof majority.

That will get the GOP out from under the need to spend their own political capital defending Trump.

Short of that, Trump will probably veto the resolution to set up an override vote.

Which will have to be preceded by yet another discharge petition as Johnson, Thune or both will refuse to schedule an override vote.
