Trump says he will strip Harvard’s tax exempt status

WASHINGTON, May 2 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said he planned to strip Harvard University of its tax-exempt status, the latest salvo against the Ivy League school amid a larger crackdown on elite U.S. universities.

"We are going to be taking away Harvard’s Tax Exempt Status. It’s what they deserve!" Trump said in a post on his social media platform, without specifying when he might take action.

Representatives for Harvard could not be immediately reached for comment on the president's post.

Any college with a 53B endowment fund needs to "pay their fair share".....Right dems?

Let's see what the dems think of their ox being gored. ;)
You sound like a Yali.

Why does Harvad even need to be federally tax exempt at this point? Any college for that matter that's been around a while and has an endowment reserve.

If a state or locality wants to exempt them then that's on them but the US taxpayer (most of whom could not even afford to go to an I-L school) should not be footing the bill.

Given the I-L's miserable Marxist track record of the past few decades and the damage many of their left-leaning graduates have done to the country, I say not another nickel of tax relief.

During one of the covid years a graduating class was asked how they were politically and only two said they were not progressive.

Now a new start-up college maybe, but any tax relief on the federal level should expire in X amount of time like most local/state exemptions do for businesses.
Yeah, that ******* George Bush, that Marxist went to Havard....

It's an IRS issue. Trump needs to stay in his lane.

That tells us that President Trump is being subjected to extraordinary pressures by the warmongers, neocrazies, Likudnicks and war profiteers to attack Iran and start a nuclear WW3.

SAD

While the IRS has the power to revoke a university's tax-exempt status, only a few instances have occurred. In 1983, the Supreme Court upheld the IRS's decision to deny tax-exempt status to Bob Jones University and Goldsboro Christian Schools due to their discriminatory admissions policies, according to the AP. These cases set a precedent for the IRS's ability to deny or revoke tax-exempt status based on a lack of charitable purpose or adherence to public policy.

My understanding is that the concepts of Affirmative Action and DEI are nearly universial in higher education.

So, shouldn't we be bring the hammer down on ALL of them?

And to be clear, I hope we do. And I hope the hammer is not limited to this tool.

You can't do them all at the same time you make an example out of a couple of them the worst ones

The man doesn’t have a clue!!!

Sure. But if an example doesn't lead to massive changes in behavior, I hope Trump escalates a LOT.

But the Universities' actions are not based on discrimination !!!

But even if it did , don't government agencies discriminate against felons, ie, criminals?

Isn't STEALING Palestinians' Land and slaughtering its people a crime?

isn't hostage taking a crime? When did that become status quo?

Anti-semitism, anti-white discrimination, DEI, it's all connected,

The entire education industry has been politicizied by the left and is on the wrong side of the culture war.

Time to fix it. And the more the left whines as we bring the hammer down, the more we know that we are doing good.

Are you familiar with the concept of deterrence?

Deterrence serves as a fundamental principle in all areas of law. Lawmakers establish standards of behavior and enforce consequences to demonstrate that violations will not go unpunished.

For example, consider the law against murder. The standard is clear: "Do not kill anyone." If someone breaks this law, they face a penalty of 25 years to life in prison. By enforcing this punishment, the legal system discourages those who might otherwise commit violence but wish to avoid losing their freedom.

Similarly, Trump is targeting some of the most blatant offenders, hoping that the consequences they face will deter others from engaging in morally questionable acts like antisemitism.

While some individuals may ignore these warnings and face punishment, others will choose to comply voluntarily.

Anti-semitism, anti-white discrimination, DEI, it's all connected,
"The Trump Administration has demanded that the university formalize its definition of antisemitism to include criticism of Israel and to place the school’s Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department under “academic receivership,” the equivalent of constant monitoring by the government."

Since when is governemnt allowed to penalize criticism?

You can play games if you want to . I assume that you are a nursing home resident with no family.

A nuclear WW3 will help no one.
I play with facts, and You won't post a map that says Palestine.
