Trump purges at least 12 Inspector Generals.

Getting our nation back one firing and one deportation at a time...

President Trump fired at least 12 inspectors general late on Friday night, three people with knowledge of the matter said, capping a week of dramatic shake-ups of the federal government with a purge of independent watchdog officials created by Congress to root out abuse and illegality within federal agencies.

The firings defied a law that requires presidents to give Congress 30 days’ advance notice before removing any inspector general, along with reasons for the firing. Just two years ago, Congress strengthened that provision by requiring the notice to include a “substantive rationale, including detailed and case-specific reasons” for the removal.

As with so much that Trump does, this purge was done half-assed. Trump once again violated the law. This time he violated the law that required notice to Congress before the IG terminations. These violations will undoubtedly make their way through the Court system due to Trump and his coterie of incompetent twits being unable to follow the law.

At any rate, the purpose of the IG is to weed out fraud. Once the smoke clears, Trump will undoubtedly appoint sycophants.

Trump’s burgeoning kleptocracy rolls on…

Maybe he fired the people as to replace them, not eliminate the positions.

Thanks....The "law" has no teeth.

BTW....It's 17 IGs now.
All Trump has accomplished by violating the notice requirement is that he has insured these IGs will be in their jobs longer as these IGs will now take this matter into Court.

Looks like it's not a law, but a rule/practice. The POTUS has absolute authority to fire IG for whatever reason or no reason at all.
Chuck Grassley differs with you.

Under federal law, Congress is supposed to receive a 30-day notice before an IG is dismissed. But Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said that did not happen. “There may be good reason the IGs were fired. We need to know that if so. I’d like further explanation from President Trump. Regardless, the 30 day detailed notice of removal that the law demands was not provided to Congress,” he said in a statement to Government Executive.

OP....What particular federal law did trump break.....Pay wall link.

As best as I can tell, if anything, Trump went against Congressional Code....Not law.

Besides the IGs sure as hell were not doing their jobs around waste, fraud, etc.
You're wrong see post 28

Removing oversight is always a bad idea. It also signals quite clearly he plans to break the law.

Trump is running the country like a business. If you have employees that are worthless or not doing their job, you fire them. Does that help you understand?
What do you think an Inspector General does?

Provide cover for the agency.
Wow.

Why is it none of you undereducated children know how anything works?

Rhetorical question, don't bother trying to answer.

Inspectors General, for your general information, carry out independent investigations and audits of federal spending and operations before reporting their findings to Congress and the public. You and I are the public, BTW.

By removing them tRump removes accountability. I can only assume so what he's about to do doesn't go public, or at least not very quickly so.

LOL, what agency has passed an IG audit? Also what agency has been held accountable for not passing an audit?
An IG investigation concluded the FBI was conducting illegal FISA requests, who was held accountable?

They don't prosecute or punish, they report to congress.

Please see my earlier comments about how none of you kids know how anything works.

My questions don't imply IG's prosecute.
My point was IG investigations turn up all sorts of laws being broken/not followed and rules violations with no accountability from Congress.
So if Congress doesn't like TRUMP using his powers by firing IG without notifying Congress they can take it up with SCOTUS or STFU.

The whole point of civil servant laws like for Inspector Generals, is that you can not let a new president pack the administration with only those loyal to the president, because then there is no one left to report crimes.
Civil service Inspector Generals who can NOT be arbitrarily fired with a hearing, are essential any honest republic.

Government is NOTHING at all like a business.
A business is run at the pleasure of the owner who makes all the arbitrary decisions.
A republic is for the benefit of all the citizens instead, so has to protect all of them from anyone with power.
