Trump the authoritarian idiot is exhibiting his ignorance of First Amendment jurisprudence.
The right to free speech is not ‘unlimited’ – it is not a right to say anything one wants anywhere one wants at any time.
The Supreme Court has consistently upheld content neutral regulations and restrictions of speech.
Universities have the right and responsibility to ensure speaking venues are safe and secure, and any regulation of those venues is perfectly Constitutional provided the content of the speech is not subject to preemption – which has consistently been the case with universities; making sure speaking venues are safe and secure is neither ‘censorship’ nor ‘political correctness.’
The notion that universities target only conservative speech for ‘discrimination’ is a lie; it’s both appropriate and warranted to guard against the violence associated with rightwing hate speech.
Trump attempting to coerce universities into stop safeguarding speaking venues is reckless, irresponsible, and wrong:
‘Floyd Abrams, a leading First Amendment lawyer, told the
New York Times that he was concerned about Trump’s proposed executive order. “The visage of the most congenitally anti-free-speech administration in American history making a series of decisions as to which campus conduct is pro- or anti-free speech is more than alarming,” he said.’
Trump to sign executive order for free speech on college campuses: We reject "censorship, political correctness"
Indeed, the idea that the likes of Trump subjectively and capriciously deciding what speech should be allowed and what speech should not be allowed based on partisan dogma is the epitome of anti-democratic authoritarianism.
