This Country spends more on edumucashun and gets less in return than anything else. Including Defense, Infrastructure, Welfare.... Any of it.

And we have the worst Ed System of any civilized country on Earth. It's a grift. Outright theft. People getting rich teaching conformative learning. To Grade Schoolers.

But -- It's for the Chil-Dren! so we mustn't touch it.

It's a grift. Look at your tax bill and tell me it isn't. Then consider that people who don't have children are paying into it, commercial buildings are paying into it..... It's major-league theft. And the money goes to the least productive people we have in this country..... Teachers. And their Toadies

No, but it SHOULD be.

The results of the PISA testing are rigged and everybody knows it. Once our edumucashun establishment was made aware of how bad, how stupid our students were, they started teaching the test and got PISA to change some of the questions. Everybody knows it.

Fortunately, we have enough students in Private schools that we're able to keep the country running. Virtually all of our current crop of movers and shakers came from the Private education sector of our country.

Even the Private Schools are falling behind.

Unfortunately the $$$$$ going directly to the states does us little good here in the Socialist Republic of Washington State, where it's a battle between the public school system & parents over not just who controls what our kids learn, but who controls the kids overall.

Having a federal Department of Education doesn’t seem to have elevated our schools or increased the learning level of our nation’s students.

Yay! Given that the state of American education has been steadily declining ever since the Dept of Education was established in the late 1970's, it is pretty obvious that this agency serves no good useful purpose whatsoever.

This is true. And it is incumbant on a GOP majority in Congress to finally find the courage to actually legislate instead of protecting themselves via the status quo and/or legislative malfeasance as we have seen under the Biden administration.

In my opinion the Constitution authorizes no federal money to go to the states for education. And when the federal spigot closes, if Trump and company and the Congress can accomplish that, I am guessing that public and private education will become much more effective and much more affordable.
