trump postpones tariffs again

The big deal with uk was getting the ag deals
And in return we agreed to import more of their goods. Rolls Royce engines and other aircraft parts to support their $55 billion aerospace industry.

And tariffs remain at 10 percent.

In other words, our 4400-page tariff schedule has a couple of pen and ink changes made to it.

REAL trade deals take YEARS to negotiate.

Just for perspective, the USMCA trade deal, which was pretty much a renaming of NAFTA, took three years.

The idea Trump is going to achieve any significant trade deals is laughable.

But of course he will brag about his petty achievements.

With the UK, he went for the easy win, and it was small potatoes.

Our farmers are being crushed by Trump's tariffs on China. This small stuff with the UK isn't going to save them.

The American taxpayer is going to be forced to bail them out again, just like we did during Trump 1.0's tariff war.

Of course the are, as are we that’s why as they said in the article they come together in good faith

That’s what negotiations are all about

I heard a journalist call these "TACO tariffs", "trump always chickens out". Anyway the on-again, off-again tariffs are off for now.

Maybe he needed the market to jump so he can make money buying the dip again?

/----/ Can someone please help explain to Crepitus how tariffs are used as a negotiating tool? I've tried my best to dumb it down to him. TIA.

BTW
The Trump administration has multiple options to push through his import tariffs. For now though, a federal appeals court has temporarily paused a suspension of the levies. One idea being weighed by the White House is a stopgap plan to impose tariffs as high as 15% for 150 days, the WSJ reported. Stay on top of the latest with our Q&A.

That is exactly what heand his accomplices doing. doing.

Lefties whine about Trump's tariffs but they don't seem to mind the foreign tariffs enacted on American exports. Chalk it up to ignorance and TDS.

We're seeing more and more of these headlines. Can't say with any degree of certainty that these layoffs (P&G, Amazon, Microsoft, etc.) are the result of tariffs, but there does seem to be a trend of increased layoffs at bigger firms and a dramatic slowdown in hiring overall. I can't help but think that Trump's economic policies have something to do with taking an economy that had consistent growth and employment gains only a few months ago and basically stifling both within a quarter.

Are they? I see absolutely no sign that the Europeans are doing anything with Trump and neither is anybody else.
