Trump misses filing date in BBC Law Suit

Donald Trump has missed the filing date for his response to the BBC's Motion to Dismiss the case on the grounds that Trump won the election so he suffered no harm.

This means the judge can toss the case and award the Defendant's costs. The BBC intends to put Trump on trial for January 6th if this proceeds and has requested all of Trump's emails, correspondence and files pertaining to January 6th, in Discovery. They should speak to Jack Smith. He has those things, I think.
Yeah, Trump thinks because he "won" before by literally threatening other media outlets, that he could do the same with the BBC, who can't be threatened by Trump, because they're British.

So they said "yeah, show us what you've got" and Trump, obviously, has NOTHING, like he had nothing before when he "won" because he's a corrupt president.

No standing, not their business.

You need to be better informed. Trump gave them standing and made it their business when he sued them for $10 billion. As always, Trump is an idiot.

Trump sued them for $10 billion for a video they broadcast about January 6th. It was a shakedown, like he did to ABC and CBS who paid him tens of millions of dollars for similar spurious claims.

But he can't threaten the BBC's license or bankrupt them with lawfare, so this is not going well for Trump and things are going to get much much worse if he doesn't drop the suit.

Trump dropped his suit. Why do you approve a foreign firm trying to extort Trump?

As far as I can tell, he hasn't dropped his suit.

You can follow the actual court filings (a filing to dismiss is a requirement to "drop" a civili suit), at the top link below.

But I wouldn't be suprised if he attempted to since the LAST thing he want's to for discovery and the requirement that he turn over information, text, emails, phone records, and documents to the BBC.

You keep justifying a foreign company suing Trump when he dropped his suit.

You cannot possibly be this stupid. TRUMP is suing the BBC, not the other way around.

Trump hasn't dropped the suit at all. The BBC has filed to have the suit dismissed and Trump was supposed to file his arguments for continuing it, so it's possible the judge will now dismiss it completely.

But Trump has apologized to the Court and asked for more time to file his Response so it's TRUMP who wants to continue the suit.

Which is kind of sad.

Since it was Trump suing the BBC, I'd have preferred the BBC attempt to continue the case. That means:
  1. Discovery - Under the right of discovery they get to subpeona all documetns, texts, emails, phone longs, and other correspondance relevant to the case as part of their defense.
  2. Testimony/Deposition - Since it is a civil case brought by Trump he can be forced to testify, he doesn't not have the right to refuse like a criminal case. He of course can still invoke his 5th Amendment Right against self incrimination for any criminal matter, but he can't refuse to testify (in-person or via deposition) in general. Trump in his own lawsuit invoking the 5th Amendment against criminal prosecution for his actions would be lovely.

The BBC has already requested all of paragraph 1 and Trump's diary for the period from the date of the election to January 20th, and Trump hasn't complied with the request.

There is no upside for Trump in this lawsuit, so it hard to fathom why he even started in the first place. He has no leverage against the BBC. He can't threaten their license, and they're funded by the British government so he can't bankrupt or outspend them. If he's going to go ahead, the BBC is going to put Trump on trial for January 6th.

If the case is dismissed, then discovery ends.
