Trump's first day in office, he implements his proposed tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports. Within two days, TWO DAYS, gas prices shoot up by 30 to 40 cents a gallon, within a couple weeks, 70 cents. It might be a little less than that in the costal regions. But the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Rockies, it will probably go up even more than those numbers.
Multiple varieties available and all selling like wildfire.
You guys are absolutely clueless. Food prices are going to spike, and spike hard. Avocados, strawberries, both cheaper now than before the pandemic, oh baby, it is coming. But I am telling you, if you ever thought of becoming a vegetarian, well now, you might not have a choice. Meat prices are going to go through the roof. Mexico drives, yes, like in the days of the Old West, one million head of cattle to US feedlots. Canada delivers about that same number of head, already processed, to US food suppliers, much of it high end, Prime beef. Chicken, the numbers are probably worse. Those five and ten pound bags of frozen chicken you buy in the grocery store, they probably came from Canada. Seafood, shrimp, tuna, salmon, forget about it.
Let's just hope you aren't Jewish or Muslim, pork is probably going to be your best protein choice. Prices might drop a little after China implements retaliatory tariffs. But then again, you might be able to pick up some beef organs on the cheap, well, except for liver. Then there is always pork chitterlings and stomachs.
Sure, furniture prices are going to increase significantly, especially for casegoods. Appliances, and especially TV's, they are going to spike hard. But hell, who cares, just throw a cover on the damn worn out couch and hire someone to fix that old fridge, get a used washer.
And that is the thing that would be so damn comical, if it wasn't so damn serious. Trump is going to give the hardest fucking to the very base that got him elected. Those gas price increases are going to hit, what is it you guys call it, "flyover country" the hardest. The food price increases, it is going to impact the working class the hardest. Food inflation when you spend, what, five percent of your income on food is one thing. But when you spend 15%, 20% well it is going to hurt like hell. And those are the very people that supported Trump, and for many, inflation was the number one issue. He has played all of you for fools and it is not going to feel very good when you finally realize it, assuming you ever do.
The Jews that supported Trump, well Kosher foods are going to be the hardest hit. The Muslims that wouldn't support Harris because of the Israeli, Hamas conflict. Same thing. The young people, looking to buy their first home, maybe struggling to pay back student loans--another thread perhaps, buying the first new furniture, their first appliances. FUCKED.
