That is down from the 145% tariff he had in place. I wonder what caused Trump to regain some rationality. It's hard to say. And who knows if they will stay that low compared to what they were. Also, though I looked, I couldn't find anything about Trump lowering the tariffs he had on other countries as well. If anybody has found a reliable website on that account, feel free to post it.

Except lowering tariffs all the way down to 30% defeats the original purpose of trump's tariffs. He did those tariffs to 1) Punish China 2) Raise revenue from imports 3) Bring back manufacturing to the US. Not only does this in no way accomplish any of these points, he didn't get a single concession from China to bring down his tariffs. That's some "negotiating" tactic. This must be what they call the Art of the Deal.

Trump will win the tariff battle. Americans will win and you will lose.

I don't care all that much about Taiwan, although I'd rather let them in here than leave them to the Jinese. But, the chinese folks really don't seem to care for individual rights, and their govt does view trade as a weapon for gaining world power. And, before 9-11, presidents were kept in check by global traders, which limited their ability to wage elective wars for fun and profit.

I don't think their goal is going to war with us. They aren't that stupid. They are after more of an exclusionary "sphere of influence" sort of thing. I'm just waiting for rising oceans to wash away those fake islands they keep building.
