Trump Lowers Tariffs on Chinese Goods To 30%.

US 145% down to 30% and china’s 125% down to 10%. Why wasn’t that second factor in the thread title?

It didn't matter. I also wonder why China didn't place a 145% tariff on U.S. goods too. But only a 125% tariff. Maybe they didn't want to appear to be as big of a bully as Trump.

It is beyond ridiculous when an adult uses the term "bully." Waaaa! Bully!

Seriously? This is news? lol Negotiating parties start higher than what they want. They know all along they are selling compromise to look reasonable.

China blinked, they can't handle the unemployment and unrest in their country due to the slow down of exports to the U.S.

China blinked by getting Trump to drop Tariffs way beyond his last statement of 80% when he said he wouldn't drop tariffs at all from 145%? That's some magic trick!

Except lowering tariffs all the way down to 30% defeats the original purpose of trump's tariffs. He did those tariffs to 1) Punish China 2) Raise revenue from imports 3) Bring back manufacturing to the US. Not only does this in no way accomplish any of these points, he didn't get a single concession from China to bring down his tariffs. That's some "negotiating" tactic. This must be what they call the Art of the Deal.

That is down from the 145% tariff he had in place. I wonder what caused Trump to regain some rationality. It's hard to say. And who knows if they will stay that low compared to what they were. Also, though I looked, I couldn't find anything about Trump lowering the tariffs he had on other countries as well. If anybody has found a reliable website on that account, feel free to post it.

That’s still a 20% tax increase. Dems should stop calling them tariffs. They’re really just there to offset billionaire tax cuts.

Try looking up the purpose of tariffs, negotiating techniques, and China's desperation, and then get back to me. lol

Hey called his bluff and he backed down.

Are you fukin high? I have seen the estimate of the average Chinese worker making around $3.50 per hour. Though the AI search I am looking at right now says it is $2.55 per hour. The average American worker makes around $31.72 per hour. And Trump wants a better "trade deal" with that kind of wage slavery? What a nut job! The only thing Trump's tariffs were good at was crashing the stock market and without a doubt leading to higher inflation and higher prices for the poor to pay.
Are you high?

Inflation has taken a remarkable and fast turn downward since Trump took office : United States Inflation Rate

Didn’t matter, my ass! It was the crux of the issue. Didn’t fit the biased agenda of the OP.

Your ass doesn't matter. Trump was the one who placed the tariffs on China. Not China. Trump was the one who lowered the tariffs with China. China didn't do so.

I know that Trump is a pathological liar. But from everything he said, he was serious about all the tariffs he put into place. The stock market thought so. The ships from China that were no longer showing up in American ports thought so. And I think that it was the second that had more to do with Trump lowering his tariffs on Chinese goods. Also, "maybe" with those tariffs at 145%, it could have caused some manufacturing to return to the U.S. But the 30% it now is isn't going to do a damn thing. And wasn't that the whole point to begin with? Though I have to say that a 30% tariff is more than the 3.5 or so tariff we had before on Chinese goods. But the difference is only going to come out of the pocket of the consumer. Another thing is that as I said before, China is basically a wage slave country to begin with. It is unethical to expect more from those who were slaves to begin with.

China didn't blink. Trump blinked. It was he who lowered the tariffs. Not China.

No. But I think you still are. At the level that Trump had his tariffs at, it was sure to cause the cost of consumer products to go up. That would for sure have led to higher inflation rates. As for what happened under Biden, he gave Americans more money. Unfortunately, when Americans have more money, it causes inflation. Because those who sell goods want in on the action. Also, Trump's actions were deflating the economy. (Which isn't a good thing) Under such conditions, inflation isn't likely to rise.

I didn't read after your first sentence. No one else did either. lol
