Trump just increased the cost of every imported car by 25%

The reason Trump is using tariffs is to cause foreign countries, that have been giving us the tariff shaft, to lower their tariffs.
He figures when you have a massive trade imbalance the one with the deficit usually does better than the one with the surplus.
Bunch of countries prevent competition from the US by instituting tariffs to freeze American manufacturers out of their market.
Trump is just doing the same thing they've been doing to us.
Since we're the biggest economy in the world, and we aren't buying as much of their products anymore, they end up suffering more than us.
Oh, BTW, the only thing government does to business is get in their way.
Foreign buyers are stuck with paying for americas overpriced healthcare. Why should they ?

The reason they're made cheaper overseas is because they use sweatshops.
Democrats caused inflation and then drove up minimum-wage.
They attacked small businesses and created regulations designed to increase the costs of doing business in America.
They say they want the entire USA to become Detroit.

So now you are pivoting from "Tariffs are good for business" to "its a weapon to battle trade imbalance". Do you just make up shit as you go?

Answer me this...
  • Where did we get the current trade deal with Mexico and Canada from? (Answer TRUMP)
  • How will a country of 30 million people in Canada buy as much as 350M people in America? (Answer IT CANT)
  • Who pays and who gets hurt? (Answer is Americans for both)

Wrong
  • The 25% tariff will be applied to imported passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, cargo vans) and light trucks, as well as key automobile parts (engines, transmissions, powertrain parts, and electrical components), with processes to expand tariffs on additional parts if necessary.
Less affect on Tesla. He gets some parts overseas.
Our TV news is reporting that US cars use 60% imported parts. Who is going to win in this ?

I told you what Trump was using tariffs for.

You forgot that I mentioned that because America is the #1 economy in the world we have an advantage in a tariff war if we're running a trade-deficit.
And the current trade deal with Mexico and Canada I guess you forgot that Biden has been POTUS for the last 4 years, not Trump.
Canada has already been charging us 250% tariffs on our dairy products.
Trump wants them to get rid of tariffs altogether.

.

Boom!

We have machinists here.

.
I know Democrats hate creating jobs unless they can fill those positions with DEI hires and foreigners, but Trump is trying to create jobs here in the US.
The economy is in shock right now because Trump is trying to change the economy back to private ownership instead of dependent on government.
The Inflation Reduction Act did the exact opposite of that. It increased inflation.

It's so discouraging to look at LA on Google Maps and see all that squalor.

But it's about as disheartening to see the same in Seattle.

The two locations where they filmed this, 3rd & Pike and 12th & Jackson, are places where I've caught buses a thousand times, up until about 2005, and never felt unsafe, but anyone who who'd be seen in either place now is in danger.

Democrats.

Seattle is the only place I saw people having sex in the streets,

That silly union imagining that this move by our President is in the interests of the autoworkers.

😁

It's an experiment pure and simple. If it works great, if not, voters will decide. I do like the idea of workers making cars for a starting wage of $40 per hour.
