"US-based multinational companies will be exempt from global tax deal"

"The OECD announced Monday that nearly 150 countries have agreed on the plan, initially crafted in 2021, to stop large global companies from shifting profits to low-tax countries, no matter where they operate in the world."

"U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called the agreement “a historic victory in preserving U.S. sovereignty and protecting American workers and businesses from extraterritorial overreach.”"

Yep, Trump made sure that huge US companies could not pay much tax. So they don't have to put money into the US system.

Imagine that. The US, run by the rich, for the rich, does something FOR THE RICH, and AGAIN AND AGAIN screws over ordinary Americans.

You need to read your link. These taxes are overseas, not here in the US, foreign countries can't rip us off.

Not too smart daddio. That means you'd rather for US multinationals to pay more in taxes and less in wages. Nothing like stealing from workers in order to divert it to our wasteful government. And let's make sure that the Somalian community gets their fair share of that extra tax money too. You socialists don't get it.

When you come to power again, lower the taxes for the lower classes. You just talk. In that tax, if it goes to globalist concerns then that is a red flag.

Think about it. If the big corporations are paying more in taxes, they might pay less in wages, but the workers will pay less in tax.

Also smaller businesses will be more likely to compete, so the average Joe who runs a company might also be richer.

However the rich will spend lots of money to tell you to give the rich more money. And you fall for it.

That's like saying I don't want to hit that jackpot because I'll have to pay taxes on it. You don't make sense

It makes sense.

Imagine the government needs $10 billion.

You tax the big multinational $5 billion. You need another $5 billion so you tax the people for $5 billion.

You tax the big multinational $0. Where does the $10 billion come from?

Your analogy makes no sense.

Yeah, why do we want US companies paying more taxes over seas?

Taxes on businesses are inflationary

The people end up paying it cause it’s passed on

Or did you forget your tariff line?

Wow you’re a dolt.

You want our companies paying more taxes to other governments?

Math major. ^^^

Let's say for discussion's sake each employee makes 100k, and the gubmint gets 10% of that in taxes.

If you tax the corporations they lay people off, so you have to tax the corps at least as much as the lost income tax.

For 100 employees, that's a million bucks. So if you think about a big company like Amazon with 10,000 employees, you'd have to tax them 100 million bucks to break even.

And then, every one of those laid off workers is going to apply for unemployment benefits, so the government gets the double whammy.
