So America was great before Reagan, before economic neoliberalism/voodoo economics was implemented as the vehicle to transfer wealth upwards into the hands of a few at the expense of everyone else.

Yep. Nothing's changed. It's baked into the system. People don't vote for good leaders. They vote for their "side" in the culture war, regardless of how bad the candidates are. Each party sells us the lie that someday they will finally "win" and eliminate the other. It's insane. It's idiotic. But we fall for it every time.
