One of the keys to Donald Trump’s enduring popularity with the worst people this country has to offer is that he often says mean things about the people his supporters hate. Whether Trump does anything to those people, and whether his actions actually solve the problems his supporters have with those people, is often a different matter. But he certainly says nasty things about his enemies, and that is apparently enough to keep his supporters clapping like seals.

The event that seems to have set Trump off was that he lost his tariff case in front of the US Court of International Trade. The next day, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit stayed the decision pending further argument, but Trump was evidently still pissed about it when Susie Wiles told him he’d eaten enough of his dinner to have screen time again. He wrote:

I was new to Washington, and it was suggested that I use The Federalist Society as a recommending source on Judges. I did so, openly and freely, but then realized that they were under the thumb of a real “sleazebag” named Leonard Leo, a bad person who, in his own way, probably hates America, and obviously has his own separate ambitions.

Does 47 really have the stones to take on The Federalist? I mean I know he dumper bag of hammers. abut wow!

"...clapping like seals". Yeah that visual made me literally laugh out loud, thanks :-)

Trump learned from his first term.....Kudos to him.
If he gets a SCOTUS pick this go-round I doubt if it will even be a lawyer, much less a federal judge.
Get some commonsense on SCOTUS.
Thomas will probably retire for Trump to replace. I'm sure he will get a lot of help reviewing his replacement.

I like Jonathan Turley as a top pick, not a judge but a legal scholar.
Senators who are legal experts like Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Mike Lee, or Tom Cotton might be considered, but we don't want the supreme court to become a political food fight.

Trump previous nominees include 10 Thomas clerks including Judge Neomi Rao on the D.C. Circuit and Judge James Ho from the Fifth Circuit and three former Alito clerks including Judge Andrew Oldham on the Fifth Circuit.

Judging (no pun intended) by his unqualified picks for high offices this time around, Trump will probably nominate Jesse Watters to the Supreme Court.

Trump loves the Fox News reality TV show.

I'm sorry but the words, "Fox News Reality" are an oxymoron.

"Everything awful that has been forced on us by the federal judiciary over the past 20 years—from the loss of abortion rights to the evisceration of voting rights to the installation of Trump himself as a king immune from criminal prosecution—has been the direct result of Leo and his influence over judicial nominations (with invaluable assistance from former Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, of course). Indeed, the few “accomplishments” Trump can claim have been brought to him by his Federalist Society judges."

Trump, of course, is too stupid and arrogant to acknowledge that fact.

Every dictator, actual or wannabe, expects a rubber stamp legislature and judiciary, and they throw a vengeful hissy fit if they don't get what they want despite it being contrary to the rule of law.

Of all the things Trump is ignorant of (history, common sense, maturity, mathematics, the English language, science, geography, etc.), the one thing he is most ignorant of, or holds the most contempt for, is the rule of law.

Do you remember what happened the last time unqualified judges went before the senate for confirmation?

Unqualified Republican judges tend to be confirmed because the GOP has the majority.

Qualified Democrat judges are blocked by McConnell by using the excuse no judges should be appointed in an election year, and then McConnell confirms Republican judges in an election year with no sense of embarrassment or shame whatsoever.

Ever hear of the "Biden Rule"?
