A hero though KNOWINGLY places themselves in a position where it is likely they will die....whether to save someone else's life, or to take out an enemy emplacement that is killing his men. Either way it is the knowledge that their life is probably forfeit and yet they still do the deed. THAT is a hero.

McCain gave up freedom to stay with his fellow POW's that's pretty heroic.

I have to suspect the Republicans will boycott the debates if Trump is invited. They will claim it is to honor McCain and his service and so on. It is an easy way for them to avoid facing Trump in the debates and look good doing it.

Yes, that could be an option, but probably only a one-horse tune, meaning, they could only get away with it once, and there are going to be a number of debates. And unless Trump tanks in the next 4 of 5 polls, his aggregate polling values will still have him easily over 10%, meaning, he will be one of the ten at the first debate in Cleveland, OH, in August.

Uh, maybe because when an aviator flew over the DMZ the dinks started lauching SAMS (missiles the size of a telephone pole) at them along with AA batteries. When McCain was captured he was bayoneted in the groin and foot along with his other injuries. He also could have been released long before he was but he insisted he'd stay until all his fellow prisoners were.
