Mike Pence could invoke the 25th amendment, whereupon he would become acting president, until Trump challenges it.
During that time, which could be hours to days, Pence could issue a pardon to Trump.
When Trump responds, he regains the presidency.

It saves him the embarrassment of having to resign.

Frivolous lawsuits can turn into an expensive rebuttal against its perpetrators.

It won't absolve him from any state crime or civil charges.

Which if he had working brain cells, he would prefer to be tried in the federal courts he and mcconnell have packed with far right radical judges.

trump and mcconnell couldn't pack the state courts and those judges won't have any bias or try to find some flimsy loophole to let him off the charges.

So him being tried in state court is a much better situation which gives a much better chance for real justice to happen to trump.
