Labor costs do not raise prices do its time for wages to increase for working citizens.

California Restaurant Prices Up 13% Under $20 Fast Food Wage Law

Proponents of California’s AB 1228, which passed in September 2023 to raise the minimum wage for the fast food industry to $20 per hour, have repeatedly claimed the law has been “benign,” or even good (a “win-win-win”) for the state.

Federal data shows the opposite. In addition to the thousands of job lossessurrounding the implementation of the law, new data shows menu prices have also skyrocketed.

Datassential, a food and beverage intelligence firm, collected menu price data for fast food restaurant chains that have locations across the country. The data is bleak for California: menu prices rose by almost double (13.1%) the rate of all other states (7.2%) since the $20 minimum wage was passed.

Here’s some of the findings according to Datassential:

California has faced the highest inflation of any state since the legislation was announced in September 2023, with a significant spike in April 2024 when it took effect.

Nice job, President Trump.

All this winning is getting boring.

And in my opinion those Trump Tariffs have made life better for us Canadians in the sense that our government seems to finally be doing something related to the types of crime that could lead to drug trafficking and the exportation of terrorism from Canada down into the USA.

The Trump Tariffs are of course scaring most Canadians and we do tend to wonder if our Prime Minister is determined to prove how much more intelligent and well informed he is in comparison to President Trump or pretty much any other major leader in the Trump administration?

Will 2026 see fuel costs at their lowest since 2020?
I think so, but that won't be happening in California and Arizona... Their fuel prices will remain the highest in the nation unless the new Governor abolishes many of the onerous environmental restrictions on Oil production and building of refineries...
California in particular needs the nations highest gas taxes to help pay for their illegals.

What trump policy created this event?
None
The biggest factor driving down prices, is the supply coming from other parts of the world, not the United States.

"Drill, Baby, Drill" policy is not law, it does not compel oil companies to raise production. In fact, with oil prices relatively low, they may end up doing the counter of that.

What are republicans doing for the poor and working class currently? Tangible things and not empty promises, please and thank you.
Bringing down prices, you’re welcome. You can thank President Trump. Now would be a good time.

Low energy prices. You need help with which thread you are in, Simp?
Trump pledged on the campaign to halve Americans’ electric bills, but electricity prices are up 5.1 percent from a year earlier, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

The Trump administration worked to roll back wind and solar power, which provide the cheapest electricity in many states. It’s also pushed the construction of artificial intelligence data centers that are driving up utility bills in some parts of the country.

Even Trump’s energy secretary recently acknowledged that rising electricity costs could be a political liability for Republicans in next year’s midterms.
