Trump has filed more personal lawsuits in one year than all, prior, US Presidents combined. He is thre only US President to file suit against the media and the US Government while President.
- Lawsuit against the IRS and the U.S. Treasury Department — Trump, along with his sons and the Trump Organization, filed a $10 billion lawsuit in federal court alleging the agencies failed to prevent a leak of his tax returns. This was filed in late January 2026.
- $15 billion lawsuit against The New York Times and Penguin Random House — Filed in September 2025 alleging defamation related to campaign coverage and book content. (This has seen significant procedural challenges and rulings.)
- Lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal — Trump is seeking $10 billion from the WSJ over an article about Jeffrey Epstein; this appears to have been filed (or announced) in mid-2025
- Lawsuit against the BBC — Trump has also sought $10 billion against the BBC over its editing of a speech preceding January 6, 2021
