Because we aren't, evidently, we all depend on each other and have for a while.The US actually has more oil than Saudi Arabia. Why should we be dependent on them?

WTF?As for needing to drill? You don't grasp that there is typically a delay of years between when a permit to drill is issued and when oil is actually being produced? Not drilling here will DEFINITELY make us dependent on others!
The oil companies are producing enough oil to their satisfaction.
