Trump is talking to associates about his interest in forming the "Patriot Party".
Conservatives in USMB, would you vote Republican or Patriot if this happens?

That would destroy the Conservative movement as a factor in US politics..at least at the Presidential level.

Did the Tea Party destroy the conservative movement, or the Republican Party, for that matter?

Tea party wasn't really a party, right? The conservative movement IS the Republican party..right now. A third party would split the vote...and serve the Dems quite well!

The day Trump kicks the bucket...it's going to be brutally emotional around here.

I wonder if this was the same source that assured us that Trump would pardon himself and his family.

I and sick sick sick of reading these bullshit stories with no source other than some J-School dropout's imagination.

I like the sentiment, the problem is it would guarantee a Democrat President in 2024. It will be hard enough to win since the CheatoCrats have 4 years to stack the deck in their favor.
Probably guarantee a Democrat President for 16 years. If he could pull it off he would pick up a significant amount of the rabid republicans, maybe most of his 31% but normal Republicans would not join, knowing they would not win and would have no voice, period. Country will not go totalitarian in next foreseeable future. Could not pull it off this time, so not happening anytime soon. It would split what used to be the republican vote, and lets face it, it ain't exactly a growth party and the republicans themselves will not be trusted not to try it or condone it again for a while. Unless Biden screws it up bad (and worse than trump in unimaginable), nobody or party's fault but his own, you can forget about 2024 anyway. Two shitty political brands are not better than one shitty political brand. All that said, him starting a new party is all talk. Talk is cheap unless you can get somebody to give you money for it and the only brand worse than the Republican brand right now is the Trump brand, domestically and internationally except for totalitarian countries.

The GOP is not the conservative movement, as many Republicans are ideologically-aligned with the Democrats, and shouldn't even be allowed to call themselves "Republicans." Just as the Whig party was dissolved and the newly-formed Republican Party absorbed them, a disbanding of the GOP and forming a new party would not split the vote.

I don't see idiots like Romney wanting to be left without a party, therefore they would have no choice other than to join or become Democrats.

...it wasn't an actual party. They ran as Republicans.
