Poor thing, there's more than one way to skin a cat. I gave my congressman a proposal yesterday, to not only get the wall built, but have the whole world pay for it. All they need do is add a border security surcharge on anyone applying for a visa to come to the US or anyone admitted under the visa waiver program. Since 40% of our illegals don't cross the southern border it seems like a fair solution to me.
Silicon Valley and all the R&D centers of the Ivy League universities ain't gonna let that happen, toots. 67% of what runs your electronic world would need to apply. Ain't gonna happen.
The US gets about 84 million visitors a year, an extra 20 bucks a head is no big deal and can fund a proper entry/exit system and pay for a big chunk of overall border security, including the border barriers.

Agreed--the WALL that he campaigned on is WORTHLESS. If WALLS & FENCES worked there wouldn't be any illegals crossing the border today.
The ONLY way they can really secure the border is with high tech motion detectors (that they can't see) and more border patrol stations. Anything they can see will always be compromised.

The one thing Drumpf and conservatives don't understand is how useless a wall is on our entire southern border. If the border were 50 miles you'd say it would help, but 2,000 miles? They'll just probe along the entire length to find the weakest spots, where additional enforcement is absent, and either dig under it or go over it.
This is why. The goal makes the barrier just another hurdle. This is what conservatives and Drumpf don't understand, the country is already great. THAT is why people die trying to get here. Still. It's why immigrants that sailed into New York harbor and looked up at the Statue of Liberty cried at their salvation and still do. It's why France gave us that statue to begin with and why the inscription on it reads:

We Americans have a unique obligation to the rest of humanity to keep the torch lit. To keep the porch-light on so they can find us in the storm.
