Up from $900 billion.
We already spend more than the next eight countries combined
This is how Trump plans to spend his tariff money

President Donald Trump has called for US defence spending to be increased to $1.5tn (£1.1tn) in 2027 for what he called "these very troubled and dangerous times".

That would be more than 50% higher than this year's $901bn budget, which was approved by Congress in December.

"This will allow us to build the 'Dream Military' that we have long been entitled to and, more importantly, that will keep us SAFE and SECURE, regardless of foe," Trump said on social media on Wednesday.

So, as posted in another thread, Trump is on to some kind of new grift stream, as he is suspending shareholder dividends in these same industries he is pumping all this new taxpayer money into.

He likely has a plan to siphon off this windfall, somehow. He fired all the Inspector Generals capable of oversight, as well.

I read something about that and from what I can gather much of the increase is slated for investment in our woefully inadequate ship building programs.

For instance the USS Ford took 12 years to build.

Beats the hell out of spending our money for 66 UN/international orgs that there seems to be no record of what was spent on them.

What is the threat?

The US has not been invaded in over 200 years. we have northern and southern neighbors who are not threats.
We are surrounded by two massive oceans making invasion impossible.

We have such a massive military because we insist on being the worlds policemen and want to extend our military around the world.

Trump has lots of ass kicking round the world to do. Plus, the military complex wants more $ for the billionaires.

Trump changed from Dept of Defense to Dept of WAR

He looks at our military as a way to impose his will on the rest of the world

Considering that Biden depleted our weapons stores, this is entirely reasonable.

Biden maintained the strongest military in the world on an $800 billion budget

The vast increase is easily explained. Our defense contractors complained it was their turn as he has spent too much effort enriching our oil companies.
They helped put Him in power and now they want their piece of the action.

Biden made provisions to replenish the military equipment given to Ukraine.
It did not involve doubling the military budget
senile joe also left billions worth of military equipment in Afghanistan. does that need to be replaced?

The United States is the world's top arms exporter, and U.S. companies earn hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue annually from weapons sales
