Trump Ballroom Unlikely To Be Built

What will really be cool is when the next President takes all that space and chops it up for use as offices, security, IT etc.
There are thousands of "White House Staff" (White House agencies, their staffs, etc.) spread around Washington. Once the two story space has been rehabbed into something useful, those staff will be able to be consolidated and work more efficiently. WW
Actually the ballroom floor can easily be setup as "open office space".
It just means they work from home when there is a state dinner.

Agreed, because it is on the White house complex it makes it a nightmare for most other events...

My suggestion would have been to build close to the White house but not in it...

The park for the Sherman monument could have worked... Call it the Sherman Ballroom and have the monument on top when finished...
It would have been 400 years from front door of white house and area around 80,000 sq ft. The ballroom could have been risen so there could be covered area underneath like coffee shops, etc...
The big thing it could be used for many other things again... Exhibitions, Sporting Events,...

Trump idea wasn't necessarily bad but its execution was shocking..

Yes that would have been the right way to do it. As for the Kennedy Center renovations they're being made so trump didn't look bad. Until he announced it there was never any discussion about renovations by anyone. With all the artists cancelling it would have been empty most of the time. Myself I think the donations were drying up. It's amazing how many Republican Sheep on here said it was being shutdown because it was losing money as their defense of trump. I'm not sure how a non-profit loses money.

The next President needs to just tear it down and build a wing that is coordinated with Congress and historical committees

Trump tore the East Wing down on his own, next President can do the same.

Last thing this country needs is a $400 million Ballroom

There are plenty of ballrooms that could be rented for such occasions.
/----/ The White House is the most secure place in Washington. Using any other location would be a security nightmare. How do I know? Because past presidents held the balls on the White House property in tents, with muddy grounds and port-a-potties for dignitaries rather than using other locations.

I asked Gemini since I'm confident you'll mark my post as Fake News:

From a security and logistical perspective, holding large-scale events like state dinners at off-site locations in Washington, D.C., presents significant challenges compared to the "controlled zone" of the White House.
While the White House property has historically been limited by the East Room's capacity (approx. 200 seated guests), administrations have traditionally preferred using temporary tents on the South Lawn rather than moving events to external venues for several key reasons:

1. The "Fortress" Advantage

The White House is not just a residence; it is a fortified complex at the center of a permanent, highly controlled security zone.
  • Infrastructure: The grounds are equipped with permanent sensors, Faraday cages, and anti-drone/anti-aircraft protections that are difficult and expensive to replicate at a hotel or convention center.
  • Screening: Bringing 500+ guests into the White House involves a rigorous pre-clearance process and established checkpoints. Moving this to an off-site location requires the Secret Service to build a "pop-up" high-security perimeter, which is logistically intensive.

2. High Cost of Presidential Movement

Every time the President leaves the White House, it triggers a massive logistical operation.
  • The Motorcade: A standard presidential movement can involve up to 45 vehicles, including "The Beast," electronic countermeasure SUVs, and local police escorts.
  • Staffing & Lodging: Even for short local trips, the Secret Service often must book entire hotel floors for command centers and standby teams. For example, a brief five-hour presidential outing in 2025 cost over $120,000 in lodging and basic security infrastructure alone.

3. Disruption to the City

Holding a 1,000-person gala at a D.C. hotel would require shutting down major thoroughfares for hours.
  • Road Closures: The Secret Service locks down streets during motorcades, which can paralyze D.C. traffic.
  • Public Impact: While the White House is a walled-off zone where security is mostly "baked-in," off-site events require intrusive temporary fencing and checkpoints in public spaces.

4. Why Tents are Being Replaced

The long-standing solution—hosting events in fancy tents on the lawn—has its own drawbacks, which led to the 2025-2026 construction of the permanent $250 million ballroom:
  • Security Vulnerability: Tents are not bulletproof or hardened against external threats.
  • Environmental Impact: Frequent tent use damages the historic turf and irrigation systems on the South Lawn, requiring costly repairs after every major event.

Summary: On-Site vs. Off-Site Security

FeatureOn-Site (White House/Ballroom)Off-Site (D.C. Hotel/Venue)
PerimeterPermanent, hardened, and sensor-rich.Temporary, requiring hundreds of extra agents.
TransportZero travel risk for the President.High-risk motorcade through city streets.
PrivacyCompletely shielded from public view.Vulnerable to long-range surveillance.
CostHigh initial build, low per-event cost.Lower initial cost, massive recurring security bills.

/—-/ And just like that, libtards are concerned with how other people spend their money.

There is no entrance door at the top of those grand, center stairs. It's around to the left. It's just one of many design flaws.

Trump’s Ballroom Design Has Barely Been Scrutinized

The front stairs are an "architectural feature". How it that a"design flaw"? It's a "decoration".

Architects are "artists" with "artistic license" not engineers trying to get the most bang for the buck.

There wont be much to tear down.

With the underground construction, it will be a miracle if the ballroom is even framed out, by the time Trump leaves for good.
