Trump approves major arms shipments to the Ukraine

This is a major, major big deal.

When they talk about 'selling' arms to Ukraine they mean that Ukraine will buy now, pay later. Probably in the form of Rare Earth Minerals, Agricultural products, etc.

Putin is about to learn the meaning of "FAFO". Bigly

Russian Military power is HIGHLY over-rated anyway. All they got is Nukes and Putin's General Staff would take him out if he even thought about using them against us. They know that if he did, it would be their last day on Earth.

Without further ado --

Do Americans know that during WWII, America sold weapons and vehicles to the English army. It was on loan and the British didn't fully repay for these military items until I think 2022 or something insane like that.

You don't just grant nations weapons, you sell them. That's the way it works and has always worked, especially when a nation has $37T in debt, primarily due to their military build up that ensured a deterrent to communist/authoritarian nations.

We got more than just Money from the Brits. We got a lot of land, Islands, etc on which we installed Air and Army Bases, as well as Naval Ports and Navy Air Stations, including in the UK.

We also kinda, sorta, actually disassembled the British Empire.

Yeah, that was us. We did it. Mea Culpa.

All those Battleships we built in the 1890's and early 1900's? They weren't built to fight the Germans or the Japanese, they were built to fight the Brits.

We're bestest buddies now but we weren't always. I guess the Brits wanted to go for 0 & 3 against us. It could have happened. Glad it didn't.

What would we do without The Beatles?

Trump 2024: "I will end the war in 24 hours with a phone call" [MAGA cheers]

Trump 2025: "I will continue the war" [MAGA cheers]

The idiot left 2024: Trump needs to be impeached because he will abandon Ukraine!

The idiot left 2025: Trump needs to be impeached because he is helping Ukraine!

Left in 2025: Trump is supporting Ukraine huh? Guess he lied his ass of to MAGA.

Awesome, more war.
The anti-war president is really showing us how anti-war he is this year. Thats for damn sure.
/---/ Putin won't budge. He's overwhelming Ukraine with massive drone attacks.
Now tell us your plan to end the killing.

Dupe

I have that poster on ignore so I didn't see the thread. In fact, the thread is filled with posters I have on ignore.

Honestly, do you stand at the entrance to the Express Lane and count how many items are in peoples' grocery carts? Are you the President of an HOA?

Enquiring minds

I stand corrected, the last payment by the British was made in 2006.
Hey give them credit, they kept their word. Though it was only supposed to be a 50 year loan at least the Brits fund their military for the most part.

They even owed Canada, wow.

You are correct in the British Empire issue, which the Germans essentially dismantled with WWII and the end of the Treaty of Versailles. There are even theories that America wanted to allow the Brit to fight on as long as possible so that they wouldn't pose a threat in the future, their empire gone.

Initially, Churchill, FDR and Stalin were equals in confronting Germany (it's insane that the Germans built such a powerful military that it took all three giants to take them on). By the end of the war, it was clear that the British Empire was over and Churchill, a proud Empiricist, was nudged out of the relationship and relegated to an observer as Staln and FDR would be the next Empires to rise.

Churchill was even against D-Day, believing it was too early and a suicide mission. FDR sided with Stalin who demanded another Front for Germany to fight in Europe.

In fairness, Churchill was probably correct in the fact that the risk was so high that if D-Day failed, estimates are that it would be at least two years before the war would end (not including the atom bomb being created of course) and some believe it could have ensured Germany actually took over all of Europe.

Of course we know now how it worked out, at great cost. In the grand scheme of things, a far less cost than if it had not succeeded.

Seventy five years ago, an agreement was signed in Washington for a US loan to the UK government of $3.75 billion repayable over 50 years.[1] The UK’s final payments on this, and a loan from Canada agreed in March 1946, would not be made until December 2006.

OK, having rethought this for a bit it's a pretty good "end-around" the whole Uke mess.

If indeed it turns out we are selling to NATO and they in turn are sending it to Ukeland it's a win for the US as long as we get our money.

No direct support, no billions every other month direct to Ukeland like under FJB to be grifted away by the Uke Midget.

Hmm.
  • Trump will give Ukraine billions in top weapons extending the war.
  • Putin is not going to "talk peace" within the 50 day deadline. Putin dances to his own tune not others.
  • Putin will laugh at our tariffs and get by with them as he has already done for years.
  • Trump just vindicated everything Biden did for four years.
  • Russia will simply turn up the heat now and go all out on Zelenskyy's head.
  • There will not be any peace between Russia and Ukraine anytime soon. The time to settle this war was maybe three years ago.

OK, you get a mulligan as I don't care much for that op either. ;)

Not GIVE --- SELL.
President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that the U.S. has agreed to sell arms to NATO just moments after he said Russian President Vladimir Putin has 50 days to secure a peace deal with Ukraine or face "100%" tariffs.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Trump called him on Thursday to confirm he wanted to enter into a deal with NATO allies to sell them arms for aid to Ukraine.

He tried to broker a deal, Russia has decided not to play along. he said he wanted peace, not Ukrainian surrender.

So now arming the Ukraine is bad?

The Brits, actually more like The Canadians, got their asses kicked in an earlier incursion, at Dieppe. Bigly. Big time and in a Big, really Big and embarrassing way.

It scared the shit out of Winston.

The Canadians ran into a German Airborne Division, IIRC. Fallschirmjäger. Very bad boys. And the Canucks weren't up to the task at the time.

In any case, that's what put the Fear in Churchill. Winston was actually scared shitless of the Germans. We weren't. We fought them in WW1 and we weren't overly impressed. Damned good troops but nothing we couldn't handle. Everybody else was afraid of them, including the Russians who the Germans killed at about a 10 to 1 ratio. We broke even, 1 to 1, but they had the advantage of being on the defensive. Defensive troops usually suffer fewer casualties unless they;re overrun and a massacre ensues
