The military should be used to force states into line.
I'd actually like to see it go that far, to be honest.
The electorate would quickly learn what 'well regulated' actually means with regard to the states use of force against federal usurpers, just as sure as God made little green apples.
Not that The Federalist numbers 28 by Hamilton and 46 by Madison aren't already crystal clear on the matter, as well as Article VI, with the Virginia Declaration of Rights, 1776, also serving as profound reference of intent.
For the record, the majority of people in those legitimate militias to be employed alongside of other existing forces by the states in such instances dictated by the constitution to provide for security against federal usurpers are current and retired military/police/ EMT/firefighters/search and rescue/ and other such emergency responders.
So be careful what you ask for. You just might get it, given the current state of affairs. It's not really about winning or losing. It's about refreshing the tree of liberty. It is unfortunate that it must be done from time to time. But it must be done from time to time, as has been done in the past with the Founders themselves setting the example, for no other reason than to remind petty tyrants that they would do well to think twice before just treading beyond their delegation so arbitrarily and so casually and without fear of consequence.
