California national guards troops and marines deployed to Los Angeles to help restore order after days of protest against the Trump administration have told friends and family members they are deeply unhappy about the assignment and worry their only meaningful role will be as pawns in a political battle they do not want to join.

That farce by Taco Man at Fort Liberty fooled nobody.

Another one of those unverified anonymous reports.

Whether they like it or not, orders are orders.

I'll admit, this isn't what they signed up for.

The problem with using the National Guard for Civil Disturbance is that their training for it is very limited. When I was in the ILARNG a lifetime ago, we spent one day a year training for Civil Disturbance, usually the December weekend when we brought in our families to show them what we did on Weekends.

The Guard's biggest fear is that some idiot might make the same mistake that was made at Kent State. No one wants THAT to ever happen again.

The real problem in LA is the LAPD using excessive force, which has resulted in some protestors resorting to violence.

Of course they don’t want to be there. They would rather have their nights and weekends off.

All you violent lefties have to do is stop rioting and getting violent. Then they could go home. Instead you just escalate the violence, justifying their presence.

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes that limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. Congress passed the Act as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction and updated it in 1956, 1981 and 2021.

The Act originally applied only to the United States Army, but a subsequent amendment in 1956 expanded its scope to the United States Air Force. In 2021, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 further expanded the scope of the Act to cover the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Space Force. The Act does not prevent the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. The United States Coast Guard (under the Department of Homeland Security) is not covered by the Act either, primarily because although it is an armed service, it also has a maritime law enforcement mission.
The title of the Act comes from the legal concept of posse comitatus, the authority under which a county sheriff, or another law officer, can conscript any able-bodied person to assist in keeping the peace.

Limits, doesn't ban.

Title 10 clears up how forces like the guard can be used by the federal government.

Maybe California shouldn't embrace the efforts of foreign governments to undermine the United States.

You have the most legal immigrants in the world, why would your government allow millions to enter illegally? It was the worst policy during Bidens term and I repeated this often. Even worse than the I.R.A which is really saying something since that was the genesis of global inflation.

California is openly violating federal law. These marines are upholding these laws and protecting American citizens.

Trump ran on tariffs, confronting unfair trade/China, and, deporting illegal citizens. The results of that election determine policy, that's how free nations work.

Allowing the liberals to burn down Los Angeles wasn't going to happen.

Trump remembers the Summer of Love, and what happened then. A lot of cities still haven't recovered from that Liberal Clusterfuck.

There really was no other choice for President Trump. The governor and mayor in Cali were sitting on their hands as ICE workers were being attacked.

Is there any reason that you would ever support the American citizen over your Lord? Your twisting and bending the knee and kissing the ring at every instance over the constitution and laws derived from it, and we the people, is NOT admirable nor a profile in courage Marty. You're a patsy.

This started with rioters stopping ICE agents from enforcing valid US law on illegal immigration.

Wow, I really got your butthurt up, didn't I?

Are you saying Americans have a right to throw concrete at police officers and burn their vehicles?

Trump ran on Cheap Gas and Cheap Eggs, Snidely, and more people voted against him than for him.

It would be a very bad look if a Marine or Guardsman shot a civilian. Their commanders understand this, which is why it will be avoided.

But all it takes is one idiot who just got live rounds for the first time outside a range.
