The Trump administration has dropped its fight to delay the January 1st date allowing transgender people to join the military, according to a BuzzFeed report. The DOJ said it will wait for a Defense Dept study on the issue and not pursue the issue to the Supreme Court now.

Why it matters: The administration's decision clears the way for transgender people to sign up to join the military despite Trump tweeting in July that transgender people would not be allowed to "serve in any capacity" in the military.

I've got nothing against transgender people, but this is a terrible idea. Military life is tough enough as it is, but for transgender people it's going to be a miserable experience. They have no idea what kind of Hell they will be walking into. There will be suicides as a result of this. I don't think it's worth it.

Trannies already have a high rate of suicide and serving in the military won't decrease that number. But good for tranny s because now their medication is provided by the government. Woopee. Fake News, “transgendered” were never “banned” from joining the military. Anyone who can meet the standards can join. The military will not, as it never has, cater to a transgender and allow a male to masquerade as a female while in uniform or on duty.

In the military, males and females must meet separate requirements for fitness standards, appearance and uniform standards, and other standards. Nothing has changed. Neither gender is going to be able to “identify” as another gender and be held to another standard.

To deny transgender Americans to make application to serve in the US military solely because of a personal choice they make with regard to gender is a clear violation of the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment.

The Constitution protects the liberty of every American to make decisions about how he might live his life, prohibiting government from seeking to disadvantage someone because of those private decisions.
