For a nation hurting economically and socially with the creepiest police forces in the West, this is the Canadian Way. Hire a 32 year old dinosaur to continue to not evolve.

No wonder our allies don't trust us...

Myron Demkiw is currently the acting deputy chief of the specialized operations command and is set to assume his new role on Dec. 19.

He will replace interim chief James Ramer, who took over the post after former police chief Mark Saunders resigned in July 2020 – and later unsuccessfully ran for the Progressive Conservatives in this provincial year's election.

Demkiw said in a statement that he is honoured to be the next chief, but is reserving further comment right now, out of respect for members of the Toronto police as they grieve the loss of Const. Andrew Hong, who was shot and killed Monday.

So he is the wrong choice because of his experience? You know, that's the way it usually works, those with experience get promoted to top positions.

Yes, he is the wrong choice because of his "experience".

In the real world of meritocracy and social progress the BEST are promoted, not those who simply have tenure and are obedient to the cult.

A guy with this much time can freely break or bend every rule because his pension is assured. Maybe that's the objective?

IMO police chiefs shouldn't have any more than 15 years service so that their full pension is at risk if they are canned.
