SCOTUS will make their decision today, which ends the term. IMO if SCOTUS doesn't smack it down, then the deportations should increase. We simply cannot afford all these services for children of illegals.

I don't really care one way or another on birthright citizenship. It has very little to do with the immigration problem. But if ending it will shut up the Trumpster whining, that's a bonus.

I don't see the SCOTUS giving the Executive the power to amend or alter any of the Amendments in the Constitution by means of an EA/EO.

Nor do I think that they should.

NY City is close to voting for a Democratic Socialist. If that trend continues toward the Presidency, can you imagine how much destruction an Extreme leftist would do to our Constitution with that kind of power?

The Scotus case is on whether district courts can stay this E/O, or does it have to work through the lower courts before a nation wide stay can be issued?

I don't believe this SCOTUS ruling is on the merits of the case itself yet?

I bet twelve internet shekels SCOTUS doesn't actually touch the birthright argument and just handles the issue of the impact of judge decisions nationwide.
Roberts will likely find some way to dodge it. He's good at that.

It's not, you're right. That makes me hope it passes even more, as these district judges are way out of bounds.

What needs smacking down is rule be EO.

This is what happens when you have Congress barely working, but working hard on lining their own pockets. And grandstanding, etc. We no longer have a working Congress. None of them--either party--could do my job three days put together.

It's what happens when you want to force changes on the country without consensus.
