Time for a Jeb Bush Thread

I thought that it is interesting and telling that there was no Jeb Bush thread in the politics forum. It’s seems that Trump, Carson and even Fiorina are getting all of the play. I realize that Bush is a “ho hum” candidate who is down in the polls but we should pay attention because all that can change. His horseshit stinks as must as the rest of them, He is just better at giving the appearance of being reasonable and sane……

Jeb Bush: I'll Win African-American Voters By Offering Hope, Not' Free Stuff'
Jeb Bush: I'll Win African-American Voters By Offering Hope, Not 'Free Stuff' (Video)

Asked by a white man in a mostly white audience during a campaign stop Thursday about what he'll do to appeal to African American voters, former Governor Jeb Bush responded that he'll give them "hope and aspiration" instead of "free stuff."

Can someone please tell me once and for all what this “free stuff” is ?

"Our message is one of hope and aspiration," Bush told the East Cooper Republican Women’s Club at their annual Shrimp Dinner in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. "It isn’t one of division and get in line and we’ll take care of you with free stuff. Our message is one that is uplifting — that says you can achieve earned success."

More on that “free stuff” I think that African Americans know that they can achieve “earned” success. What exactly are you going to do to help the Jeb?

This statement was a familiar one to many in the national media, who recall similar comments that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney made after being booed during a speech to NAACP members in July 2012.

They just don’t learn from the past

“Your friends who like Obamacare, you remind them of this: If they want more stuff from government, tell them to go vote for the other guy — more free stuff. But don’t forget nothing is really free.”

Obamacare is free? Really?

Bush's condescending and stereotyping comment follows a long history of Republican ineptitude and often times blatant racism when it comes to outreach to communities of color. What should be noted is that whenever Republicans talk about Democrats gaining voters through bribery or "free stuff," these comments are always directed toward African American, Native American, or Latino voting blocks. Not once in memory have Republicans singled out white Americans for wanting "free stuff" despite the fact that the majority of welfare recipients are white.

He's delusional if he thinks blacks are going to vote for jobs and against free stuff.
Maybe YOU would like to tell us what that "free stuff" is? Are you saying that black folks would rather take handouts than work? Seriously? It would appear that Bush is not the only one who doesn't know that blatant and unabashed racism is out of style.

He's delusional, if he thinks anyone who says "free stuff" can win.
Yeah, entitlement programs sound so much better, especially since they've managed to lump in social security, unemployment benefits and the like into which recipients have contributed.

"Free stuff" is a clearer and more specific term though, denoting programs into which no contribution were made by the recipients: welfare, food stamps and those things so beloved by Democrats.

You're assuming all who receive benefits have made no contribution. That's where the trouble starts and why throwing everyone into the same pot is a problem for the Republicans. It's what turned off so many Republicans and convinced them to stay home on election night 2012. They were insulted by Romney, because they realized they were part of the 47% he was talking about.

I clearly made the distinction between those who do and those who don't contribute. Throwing social security and unemployment entitlements in with welfare and EBT "free stuff" is exactly throwing everyone into the same pot", as you put it.

Please read my post before commenting. There is no point in responding otherwise.

Those programs are beloved by the capitalists who understand that they are necessary to maintain social order and to have a ready workforce available when needed but kept alive and reasonable happy when sidelined and waiting for work. They are a necessary element of an economic system that expands and contracts and where full employment is not possible.

You couldn't be more wrong. Republicans stayed home because they thought Romney was too willing to agree with democrats.

Old Jeb just got the moronic asshole of the week award...maybe the year:

Jeb Bush Blows Off Oregon Mass Shooting Deaths by Saying “Stuff Happens”

Former Governor Jeb Bush seems to have inherited the same gene as his brother, former President George W. Bush when it comes to fumbling mouth syndrome.

Speaking at a Conservative Leadership Project presidential forum at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, Bush responded to calls for gun control arguing, “Stuff happens.”

Ryan Lizza of the New Yorker, tweeted Friday afternoon, “In Greenville, South Carolina, Jeb Bush, arguing against calls for gun control after major tragedy, says, ‘stuff happens.'” Jeb Bush Blows Off Oregon Mass Shooting Deaths by Saying “Stuff Happens”

I don't like Jeb, but his quote was taken out of context.

Jeb Bush is a big government dope. OP is a big government limp wrister taking money out of people's pockets.

Jeb Bush Falls Apart When Asked Why He Blames Obama For Benghazi But Not W for 9/11 Jeb Bush Falls Apart When Asked Why He Blames Obama For Benghazi But Not W for 9/11

There is a reason Jeb is polling in single digits everywhere, and that reason’s name is George W. Bush. Jeb Bush’s hypocritical non-answer perfectly summarized why he probably not going to be elected president.

Bush can’t both attack Obama, and defend his brother’s horrible record. His attempts to do both have resulted in the rewriting of history. Bush’s answer today left out the pre-9/11 intelligence that his brother’s administration ignored.

Jeb Bush has been a disaster as a candidate, and answers such as the one he provided to CNN are a big part of why he is failing.

That seems to be what democrats think.. If not, why don't they focus on jobs and skill development?

Is that a serious question ?? Try to recall some recent history:

The American Jobs Act The issue most often cited when the dreaded words “Obama Economy” are uttered is unemployment which is only now beginning to show signs of improvement. It too impacts significantly on revenues as well as the need for government services. Obama has tried to improve the jobs picture through a number of legislative initiatives including a more robust stimulus package but political opposition prevailed On September 8, 2011 President Obama laid out a series of policy proposals known collectively as theAmerican Jobs Act. The plan included stimulus spending in the form of immediate infrastructure investments, tax credits for working Americans and employers to encourage consumer spending and job growth, and efforts to shore up state and local budgets to prevent further layoffs of teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other public safety officials.

The American Jobs Act never became law, however, because Republicans opposed it from the start, blasting it as another form of “failed stimulus” that wouldn’t help the economy. (They ignored the fact that the first “failed stimulus,” the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,wasn’t a failure at all.) One month later, the GOPblocked the billin the Senate, preventing the creation of more than a million jobs and the added growth that multiple economists predicted would occur if the bill passed.

The Veterans Jobs Corps: The Los Angelis Time reported: “President Obama’s proposal to create a Veterans Jobs Corps to stem high unemployment among recent military veterans was shelved Wednesday after Republicans in the Senate balked over the five-year $1-billion cost,……” The article went on to say “The measure had been on Obama’s to-do list for Congress, a modest set of initiatives aimed at boosting the nation’s sluggish economy that Republicans have largely rejected. The jobs bill would have hired veterans who served in the military since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, to work on federal public lands projects and would have established a network of job training centers.” Republican opposition stemmed from refusal to support an initiative that originated in the White House. The corps, loosely based on the Civilian Conservation Corps created during the Great Depression, would put veterans to work on preserving and restoring federal, state and local lands.Bill to create Veterans Job Corps fails to advance

Insourcing: In July 2012, Senate Republicans blocked the No.1 item on the president's congressional "to-do-list," refusing to allow a vote on a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that "insource" jobs to the U.S. from overseas while eliminating tax deductions for companies that move jobs abroad. The Bring Jobs Home Act would provide a 20% tax break for the costs of moving jobs back to the United States and would rescind business expense deductions available to companies that are associated with the cost of moving operations overseas. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, had warned Democrats before the vote that his party would want to amend the bill -- possibly with hot-button issues like repealing the health care reform law or extending the Bush-era tax cuts for all income levels. http://www.law360.com/articles/562536/gop-sens-filibuster-insourcing-tax-credit-bill

After Claiming His Brother ‘Kept Us Safe,’ Jeb Bush Tries To Blame Bill Clinton For 9/11

After Claiming His Brother ‘Kept Us Safe,’ Jeb Bush Tries To Blame Bill Clinton For 9/11

In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Bush argued that “when we were attacked, my brother created an environment where for 2,600 days, we were safe. No one attacked us again. And he changed the laws, he did everything necessary, he united the country, and he kept us safe. Just a tip of the hat to that.”
However....
During the post-9/11 days of the Bush administration, Americans endured domestic attacks in other forms, including anthrax attacks, a failed airline shoe bomber, the DC sniper, the Ohio sniper, and ricin in the Capitol — and thousands of U.S. troops were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan
.

In addition....

But it was Clinton, in 1995, who issued the first ever Presidential Decision Directive labeling terrorism “a national security issue,” rather than a law enforcement matter (as it had been under all prior administrations, including President George H.W. Bush’s). In 1996, Clinton’s CIA created a special unit focusing specifically on Osama bin Laden. And in 1998 Clinton ordered missile attacks that narrowly missed bin Laden in Sudan and authorized covert action against Bin Laden and his al Qaeda network.

At the time, congressional Republicans slammed Clinton’s attempt to kill bin Laden as merely an attempt to distract from his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
