TikTok changes hands in US

nobody does more censorship than China, how can it be worst with a US entity now?
we have freedom of expression, they do not
looks like a win for us actually

You all keep presenting a false dichotomy. It wasn't owned by "China." It was a private Chinese company, and 60% of that company was global and US investors. See post 11.

And what you said simply wasn't the case, there wasn't censorship before, but now there is! (From what I've been hearing.)

Why do you all think that everyone is un-installing the app and ditching TikTok? Because now it's all about controlling the narrative and censoring certain topics.

There's no such thing as a "private" Chinese company. If the CCP tells a company to do something, it does it. Or else the CEO may suddenly disappear for a few months and when he emerges it is only to say he has "voluntarily" decided to retire.

Well, if you're so scared of it then good thing no one is forcing you to use it. As I said before, uninstalls have surged 150% since the takeover, which goes to show that people don't like Ellison and can see where things are heading with TikTok. We all know why it was taken over, they were very open about their reason for acquiring it.

Guess who the new owners are…

And just like that, a wave of more censorship hits the platform, “hate speech” enforcement….especially of the “anti-Semitic” type.
Well, certainly not an Oracle fan, but good for them.

I never installed TikTok. I don't like Chinese spyware.

China is infinitely more censorious and a much bigger threat to the US than Ellison could hope to be. You have gone silent on China which I can only take as you have now conceded that point.

Nope, I just think you're funny, and clearly unaware of what is actually going on with TikTok. But that's OK. Have a great day.

Tiktok isn't friendly to conservatives. I'm surprised Trump defends it

learned something ,was not aware China has a hybrid system and they do have some private companies

Not according to the psychology world, the decision often stems from anxiety.

TikTok users say they can’t upload anti-ICE videos. The company blames tech issues

We'd be better off with China owning TikTok.

Last week, a majority American-owned joint venture took control of TikTok’s assets in the US, in a deal shepherded by the Trump administration

Among its new investors is the tech company Oracle, whose executive chair Larry Ellison is a close affiliate of President Donald Trump

I wonder what Papageorgio thinks about this. He doesn't like a President to tell a corporation what they can and can't do. This is different I guess because the "owners" want to sensor the truth now. Facebook didn't want to have to take fake news down. TikTok doesn't want to put up anti ice videos. So I do understand the difference but still I wonder what Papa is thinking about all this. I haven't talked to him much since I went to Florida for a month.
